COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lost Continent Double IPA has an astonishing three pounds of hops per barrel in the kettle and another pound per barrel of "dry-hops" added after fermentation, bringing this beer to 90+ IBUs. Starting with an original gravity of 22˚ Plato (1.088 SG), this is a full-bodied beer weighing in at 8.0% ABV. UPDATED: AUG 15, 2012 On tap 5 oz. sample at Encinitas Ale House in Encinitas, CA. Clear, sparkling straw color with nice sized, fine head and amazing fine lacing. Aroma of citrus, grapefruit, bitter salad greens, pine and malt. Not overblown. The taste is a balance hops and malt with a bitter hop presence up front followed by strong orange citrus flavors and enough malt flavor of bread and toffee in the background to provide some balance. Medium body with a fine, strong carbonation and silky smooth mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours clear orange with average head and good lacing. Aroma is spicy citrus hops, some floral, and pine needles. Flavor comes on strong with same spicy hops, pine resin, orange, just a little bit of malt in the middle. Finishes bitter with a woody resin and a dry biting finish. Just a little too dry and bitter in the end.

12 oz. bottle from Total Wine in Greenville, SC (bottled February 12, 2013). Pours deep orange with a frothy off-white head. Wonderful aromas of caramel, grapefruit peel, and tangerine. The taste offers bitter grapefruit and pineapple with a sturdy malty backbone. Palate is a little thinner than I had hoped for but this is only a minor gripe. A well done DIPA overall.

12 oz. bottle pours a slightly hazy orange with lots of floating sediment, average white head, and good lacing. Aroma is full of citrus and piney hops with some bready malts. Taste is sweet at first with a long bitter finish. Body is at best medium, with a slightly sticky mouthfeel. A little light for a Double IPA. Overall a very solid balanced IPA which didn’t quite meet my expectations given the label.

Tasted this on tap at the 8th Street Ale Haus in Sheboygan, Wisconsin so I didn’t get great notes. Classically awesome IPA.

Hazy orange pour with a little yeast floating around inside and an off white head. Piney sweetness up front on the nose, good bit of citrus, little malt coming through, smells quite hoppy. A little bit light bodied for a DIPA, not super bitter or hoppy. Taste is very orangey up front, citrus bitterness, small amount of floral/piney hops, slight malt notes. Like I said, it’s way too light to be a DIPA it seems, still quite tasty.

Another I can’t believe I hadn’t rated. Pours a nice orangeish with good hop aromas and flavor. Almost sweet hops on the tongue, really solid beer.

It poured a golden/orangeish color with an off-white head. The aroma was of citrus and pine. The taste was light malty sweetness with a big bold hoppy finish. It had a medium body with a decent carbonation that gives a decent mouthfeel. Very tasty.
