3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz picked up today at the Brewforia Eagle tonight poured into my Funk Fest goblet... 1" head with decent honey gold brew.
Aroma is nose hair coating citrus hops.. sorta thick pale malt
Big body out of the gate.. thick for sure.. tons of grapefruit hoppiness with a more than enough malt.. piney hoppiness and a surprising amount of fruity hoppiness mid palate combines with grainy slightly sweet pale malts.. very rich.. with a finish that sorta drops off quickly.. the fruity hops linger for a bit.. but not nearly as long as I would expect for a brew of this thickness..
Despite my above negatives, this is a pretty nice DIPA right now... I prefer a little drier take on the style.. but this is a good beer..
cough... cough.. cough.. lower the mash temp... cough cough.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A 12 ounce bottle poured into a tulip, the beer presents a dark apricot hue, strikingly clear, and with a porous and almost soapy looking off-white foam. Its depth is short-lived, the head settling, not disappearing but leaving a dignified blanket on the surface of the beer.
The aroma is grapefruit with a hint of lemon, heavy spruce and some very grassy notes. Sharp, grasping. I can’t say that this is my favorite aromatic experience with a dipa, but it certainly isn’t unpleasant. I take my first sip, and the experience is a very dry bitter, the grapefruit and spruce coming alive in my mouth. The edginess of the spruce crawls up the sides of my tongue, dries the tip with a bite, and lays the groundwork for a long, drawn out finish.
The medium body is creamy rather than an expected sticky, and is well carbonated without being too buzzy, carrying the flavors through to a very resiny afterward. I think that I would want to try this beer on tap. I wonder what it’s gone through in the bottle, and believe that I would have a much better experience with this fresh from the brewery. All in all, a pretty darn good beer.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a very hazy orange-amber color with a small white head of fizzy foam. The head fades relatively quickly, leaving a decent level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is huge of sweet tropical fruit aromas with lots of tangerine, pineapple and mango. Along with these smells comes some other aromas of a bready and slightly grainy smell as well as some hop aromas of grapefruit, grass, and herb.
Taste – The taste begins with a sweeter tropical fruit flavor of mango, tangerine, and pineapple. Along with these sweeter tastes comes a little bit of a bready and doughty taste along with some hop flavors of a grapefruit nature. The fruitiness seems to increase a bit toward the middle, all while the hop remains constant. This however changes more toward the end of the taste, as some of the sweet fades a bit and more and more hop of a grapefruit and herbal flavor come to the tongue. Some grass and a bit of pine join the rest of the flavors at the end, to leave a rather fruit natured sweet, but nicely hopped and smooth flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thicker and creamier side with a carbonation level that is on the lower side. This mouthfeel is fantastic for the mix of tropical fruit flavors with the hit of hoppy flavors that sits on the tongue and makes it’s a flavorful, but still rather easy drinking brew overall.
Overall – This was a great tasting and easy drinking double IPA. Fruity and sweet, but nicely hopped and very easy drinking. I rather enjoy this one.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle (Courtesy of Headbanger) poured into a Shaker at 40°. Color is a hazy golden orange with very active carbonation and a bunch of floaties bouncing around. It has a small off white whip cream like head. Aroma is sweet fresh hops. It has a bold medium body with a smooth rich mouth feel. Flavor is rich and malty with fruit, then citrus giving it a mellow bitterness. In the after taste the alcohol almost comes out with a note of oak. Overall its an interesting brew, there is defiantly an oak taste in there but no mention of oak by the brewer and very malt heavy. In the end I like it.

"after a solid review from friends, i was expecting close to greatness, and this one was simply good. next to Pliny it wasn’t close, but i would have enjoyed it solo. decent grapefruity hop character in the aroma and flavor. a touch thin bodied, next to the big chewy Elder at least. Solid brew."

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. can courtesy of Lectvay. Bottled date 3/20/14. Aroma is very fruity with pineapple, grapefruit and light traces of pine. The dry hopping does great things even for a older bottle.
The main base of the beer shows light caramel malt backing with notes of straw. The flavor is still really nice. Floral, hints of grass, subtle grapefruit and hints of pine resin rounding off the hop flavors. Bitterness lingers only slightly. The texture is dry over the tongue with a lighter side of medium body. After finishing the bottle, I very easily could have reached for another one. Rather easy to drink with no trace of 8% ABV.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Hazy dark copper under a foamy and sticky white head. Lovely aroma with lemon zest and floral/grassy fresh hop aroma and a touch of resinous dankness. Bright and delightful flavor bursting with complex hoppiness. It starts with a bright and piney/lemon sharpness that’s quickly quelled by a resin and floral hop tone, a touch of mango and tropical eccentricity, and a slightly boozy pale malt backbone. Quaffable for its strength, but boozy enough to warn you. Nicely done.
