12 oz picked up today at the Brewforia Eagle tonight poured into my Funk Fest goblet... 1" head with decent honey gold brew. Aroma is nose hair coating citrus hops.. sorta thick pale malt Big body out of the gate.. thick for sure.. tons of grapefruit hoppiness with a more than enough malt.. piney hoppiness and a surprising amount of fruity hoppiness mid palate combines with grainy slightly sweet pale malts.. very rich.. with a finish that sorta drops off quickly.. the fruity hops linger for a bit.. but not nearly as long as I would expect for a brew of this thickness.. Despite my above negatives, this is a pretty nice DIPA right now... I prefer a little drier take on the style.. but this is a good beer.. cough... cough.. cough.. lower the mash temp... cough cough.

Bottle. Golden/copper with small off white head. Aroma of pine and resinous hops and some light biscuit notes. Medium/heavy body, medium resinous hop bitterness, slight soapiness, light fruit notes, and a dry finish.

12oz bottle (Courtesy of Headbanger) poured into a Shaker at 40°. Color is a hazy golden orange with very active carbonation and a bunch of floaties bouncing around. It has a small off white whip cream like head. Aroma is sweet fresh hops. It has a bold medium body with a smooth rich mouth feel. Flavor is rich and malty with fruit, then citrus giving it a mellow bitterness. In the after taste the alcohol almost comes out with a note of oak. Overall its an interesting brew, there is defiantly an oak taste in there but no mention of oak by the brewer and very malt heavy. In the end I like it.

12oz bottle 10/10/14 (Binny’s Naperville)-42° in Shaker-Pours an orangish amber with a small loose white head. Aroma of citrus, hops, and malt. Taste of citrus, hops, and malt. This medium bodied brew is well balanced and not too shabby.

"after a solid review from friends, i was expecting close to greatness, and this one was simply good. next to Pliny it wasn’t close, but i would have enjoyed it solo. decent grapefruity hop character in the aroma and flavor. a touch thin bodied, next to the big chewy Elder at least. Solid brew."

12 oz. can courtesy of Lectvay. Bottled date 3/20/14. Aroma is very fruity with pineapple, grapefruit and light traces of pine. The dry hopping does great things even for a older bottle.

The main base of the beer shows light caramel malt backing with notes of straw. The flavor is still really nice. Floral, hints of grass, subtle grapefruit and hints of pine resin rounding off the hop flavors. Bitterness lingers only slightly. The texture is dry over the tongue with a lighter side of medium body. After finishing the bottle, I very easily could have reached for another one. Rather easy to drink with no trace of 8% ABV.

Hazy dark copper under a foamy and sticky white head. Lovely aroma with lemon zest and floral/grassy fresh hop aroma and a touch of resinous dankness. Bright and delightful flavor bursting with complex hoppiness. It starts with a bright and piney/lemon sharpness that’s quickly quelled by a resin and floral hop tone, a touch of mango and tropical eccentricity, and a slightly boozy pale malt backbone. Quaffable for its strength, but boozy enough to warn you. Nicely done.

Smoother than I expected. Definitely has a hoppy aroma and taste - pine and citrus - copper color - expected it to be a little stronger but still good ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Review from notes on 07/17/10 A2: Bottled 5/23/11,reviewed 27JUL11 A: No head, appears flat, which I didn’t expect given the freshness of this beer. Beer is dull in clarity, slightly misty. Lacing evident on wall as glass is emptied, but nonetheless, unimpressive. (2) A2: Pours a copper ale with a single finger of peanut head which falls to a tortuous sheet of the same. Cobweb lacing. Limited Clarity. (3.5) S: Lots of PNW hopping here! Citrus, pine, sheetgrass, grapefruit frosts the crystal malts over this beer. (4) S2: Pine, mint, grapefruit, juicy fruit; all make the hops. The malts are sweet and floury. (4) T: Well balanced, bitterness matches level of sweetness in this beer. The finish encourages tongue to dispute whether you taste bitterness or sweetness, nice balance. (3.5) T2: The hop profile here is flavor dominant, very sweet and floral. There is a definite bitterness, but it seems subdued by the malts and hop profile. Plenty of biscuit and hints of toffee on the malt side of things. The hops seems just a little ill-defined. (3) M: Sharp feel on tongue, the bitter teases the tongue to dryness only to be again weaned toward the sweetness of the late hops. (4.5) M2: Medium bodied with higher carb than preferred for the style. Dry. (3.5) D: Good DIPA. Worth at least one try. Well balanced, which I don’t think DIPA’s usually are. (3) O2: I’m less impressed with this than I was a year ago. A little too sweet for the style. I find their imperial red more hoppy than this. (3) Serving type: bottle 12-23-2010
