3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Sparky (2130) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - AUG 22, 2011750ml courtesy of Sledutah - Thanks Craig! Pours a caramel ice cream topping brown with a thin off-white head. The nose is toffee, brown sugar and overripe citrus. The taste is caramel, rip citrus, some astringency and pine in the finish that lingers a bit. Medium mouthfeel. Decent beer even with some age on it the hops are still there in abundance.

Pours a deep hazy burgundy/red color with a foamy off white head. Definitely a malt forward beer on the aroma, somewhat darkish fruits, some caramel and lots of hoppy pine. Very smooth at first sip, slightly fruity notes up front, some bready malt, dark cherries, some caramel, and then the finish is like a creeping wave of bitter citrus and piney hops. Thought I was going to get something similar to a british style barleywine when I smelled it, but boy was I wrong. The malt and sweetness is cut nicely by tons of hops.

Pretty impressive strong ale from Grand Teton with a nice hop bite. Caramel, bread, hay and sweet honey prevail on the tongue, with a nice carbonation keeping it tasting fresh and smooth.

Easily one of the better imperial reds I've had. Nice ruby color. Has a great malty flavor characteristic of the style, with a hint of spice. Bitterness infuses the flavor but in a complementary and non-overbearing manner. Recommended! A-

A very hoppy ale. Has a distinct malty taste with a bitter finish little over rated.

Bottle:   Deep amber, dark, moderate to large frothy sandy head, nice lacing.   Sweet biscutiy and candied citrus peel nose.   Smells like a cross between a Strong Ale and a Barley Wine.   Candied citrus peel and citrusy hops up front.   Smooth, decent malt backing.   Hoppy, but not biting.  Has a lovely hop aspect without being too bitter.   A true hoppy strong ale, bigger than you average IIPA but not quite in the barleywine territory.   A very nice smooth example of the style.   Decent balance, body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Citrusy, hoppy without being biting, smooth, semi-sweet, citrusy, this is a real treat.   One of the better Grand Tetons I have had!

Medium red orange with a medium tan, foamy head. Strawberry, resinous hops, bread, fruit, and sugar. Starts moderately sweet, bitter, then back to sweet. Body is lighter.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 BeerKurve (232) - - MAY 13, 2013
Dark Hazy Ruby Red with a good amount of lacing. Aroma consists of Piney Hops, Caramel, Toffee, Malts and Yeasts. Flavor has some strong caramel notes backed up by a piney hop/resin flavor and some citrus and yeasty notes. Aftertaste is also surprisingly dry with only a hint of caramel/hop bitterness. Body is fairly thick and heavy and the carbonation has a bite to it so you have to take it easy with this one. Pretty good beer overall, not as hoppy as one would think though
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 SDalkoholic (1812) - Chula Vista, California, USA - APR 20, 2013
Bottle from South Bay Drugs and Liquor: Poured a dense mahogany liquid with a puffy yet sticky layer of foam for a head. In the nose, there is a moderate amount of hops but not as much as I would have expected, however, aroma is very organic smelling and of freshly picked hops. The flavor is intensely sweet with natural fermented sugars and the presence of hops is like a thick residue of sticky green hops that are overly bitter. Aftertaste leaves behind an earthy after note that is rich in earth and an organic honey finish. Although, this is flavorful and nice and touching in the ABV department, I have skepticism towards it being a perfect showcase to display hops, but more of a beer with increased ingredients to achieve a higher IBU.

Rich malty, red apple smell. Red-amber with a bit of off-white head. Sweet and malty taste with red apple notes and a subtle hop kick that hits the back of the tongue.
