COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Saison is the original summer beer. Originally brewed in southern Belgium for thirsty farm hands, these crisp, bubbly, and refreshing brews demand to be consumed on hot summer days. Our Saison follows centuries of tradition, using European hop varieties—Hallertauer Magnum, Styrian Goldings, and Strisselspalt. We also use a very light base malt accented by just a touch of Wheat and Munich malts. Finally, we ferment the beer very warm with a well-known Belgian yeast strain to bring out the spicy flavors that are common to Saisons. This style pairs well with an astonishing variety of foods. Drink it with grilled sausage or chicken, green curry with coconut milk, or a summer salad with vinaigrette and crumbled bleu cheese. The Grand Saison is a beer to commemorate warm weather. As its flavors will diminish with time, this is not a beer to be cellared. We recommend you savor it during the long summer days while it is fresh. Bottle @ Ben and Greg’s apartment. 2011 vintage. Pours a somewhat hazy dark golden appearance with an off white head. Banana, apple, somewhat spicy, grassy aroma. Spritzy, somewhat bready, a bit oxidized, apple, lemon citrusy flavor. Probably should have drink a bit more fresh but not bad.

Pours a rich copper orange color with a finger of sticky foam. Aromas are sweet apple, straw, earthy yeast and a touch of pepper. The palate is a bit round and under carbonated but the flavor is interesting. Ripe apple dominates with a background sweetness that helos carry the rustic yeasty profile in a more subtle way. Long honeyed finish, nice beer just not your traditional saison characteristics.

2011 Cellar reserve... so aged 20 months... Pours deep gold into a tulip. White head with good retention craters and recedes leaving spider lacing. Caramel and yeast aromas. Medium bodied with sourdough and caramel upfront turning to an earthy bitterness in the lasting finish. Would love to try and fresher batch.

750ml bottle $9.49, i thought twice about buying this and then gave in, ehh. Bright golden yellow in a wine glass, good head. Smells fruity and estery but not quite what I would expect from a Belgian saison. Taste was fruity and reminded me of Tank 7 without the dry hopping. Overall this was not spicy or dry enough for me and I wish I’d spent the money on a Dupont instead. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 11-26-2011 03:56:33

I’m defintie smells of sourdough bread and yeast. its look and feel are top notch. the beer its self has a flaw with strong flavors in the fornt while having a real lacking quality at the end due to the brewing water. its mildly spicy but not overbearing.

The aroma is very nice with bread like malt and yeast. The hops are assertive and grassy. There is a graininess to the aroma as well. The appearance is cloudy gold with a medium head. The taste is papery and astringent. The palate is typical of this style. Overall not to good.

Growler from Greenville Beer Exchange A: Pours a cloudy gold copper with an awesome head. Retention is good as well S: Grassy hops, candy sweetness, Belgian yeast (bubblegum, wintergreen), mild pale malts come through T: Peaches, banana, orchard fruit. Hops give a little twangy touch to it, malts hold it all together MF/O: Fizzly but thick and velvety feel, crisp clean finish of tart and sweet fruit
