3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Glouglouburp (5568) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 5, 2012
In short: A basic semi-rustic fruity blonde Saison. Decent.
How: Bottle 750ml. 2011 vintage. Consumed 6 months after bottling date. Bottle sent to me by Alen, thanks buddy
The look: Cloudy amber-blond body topped by a medium white head with medium retention
In long: Nose is a bit rustic, somewhat phenolic, some flowers. A bit too much phenols on the aroma unfortunately. Taste has a the usual bready cereals, light rye bread sensation, a touch of honey, fresh young red apples, dried bananas, floral hops, a bit of dry grass, light mineral/salty spiciness, some celeries. Finish is moderately dry and has a mild bitterness. Carbonation is spot-on and the body is very lively, that’s the one thing this beer does very well. Another “decent” beer acquired in a trade, I keep telling myself I’ll slow down trading but some people just never change, like that homeless old man begging for change next my work office everyday, he’s been wearing the same shirt for the last five days.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 JoePeesie (829) - Long Lake, Illinois, USA - MAR 2, 2012
Pours a hazy light bright orange with about 2 fingers of fizzy white head that laces in chunks. Nose is of wet hay, lemon, a touch of spice. Taste follows suit with a lemon tart finish. A bit sweeter that expected. Crisp but not dry. Spiciness is not over done. Very enjoyable beer especially for $8.

750mL bottle. Poured clear, bright golden with a fairly short-lived white head. The aroma picked up lemon zest, cloves, and coriander with a little grains of paradise around there too.. soft honey-kissed pale base.. spices and wheat really led. The flavor found similar stuff.. tart wheat and lemon zest plus cloves and grains of paradise over a nondescript base.. tart, tangy, and spicy on the finish, with too much spicage to really be refreshing. Light-medium bodied with higher carbonation on the palate.. just a decent feel and flow.. OK brew.

2011 bottle... murky golden brown, big off white head, good retention... the aroma is quite nice, stone fruits, apricots, tart and musky but sweet, smells great.... the taste is mostly floral, a bit of grain, the sweet fruit notes are gone as well as the tartness, a bit of boring finish... good almost great, taste needs to come through a bit more
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 FROTHINGSLOSH (3977) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 2, 2011
UPDATED: APR 3, 2012 From the 12/2011 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from a 750 ml brown bottle this beer poured a murky yellow-golden color with a medium sized white head that left no lacing. The aroma was bready with notes of rye and pepper. The flavor was very yeasty and bready with a spicy and peppery presence and moderate notes of orange, lemon and honey. The beer turned tart and dry towards the long bready and citric finish. Fairly full bodied. Nice.

750 ml bottle from Randall’s. Pours a hazy but bright straw gold with a rocky white head that laces the glass. Aroma of farmhouse funk, sweet bread, straw, cereal, apricot, and grass. Flavor of tangerine, apricot, crackers, sweet bread, straw, and light herbs and spices. Medium body with moderate carbonation and a funky, sweet, fruity mouthfeel. Very nice.

Rich gold, transparent white head, leaves heavy lacing. Lemon, bit wheaty, peppery nose. Flavor similar, a bit more green, rooty, light lemon and wheaty in addition to caustic soap. Carbonation should be dialed down a bit though the finish is nice and lasting.

Bottle: pours a hazy lemon gold with thick, creamy offwhite head. Floral, but faintly herbal aroma. Nice yeast. Soft mouthful with light florals. Just a faint bit of malts and more of that delightfuly spicey yeast. Smooth and crisp. Nicely done.

750mL 2011 ed thanks to Travlr. Pours a clearish orange with a decent white head leaving thick, sticky lace. Nose is floral hoppy, sweet orange, big green olive, salty pimento. Taste is sugary, old characters....tastes a lot like my first batch of saison homebrew: old lemon, celery, lemon tartness. Not bad. Too much celery for me. Tart, thinner palate. Moderate hoppiness. Not too bad.
