COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Trout Hop is brewed with Idaho 2-Row Brewers’ Malt and German specialty malts and has a deep, rich color and roasted finish without the thick and malty body that often accompanies dark beers. It is kettle hopped and dry hopped with Pacific Northwest hops, resulting in bold and intense bitterness and piney, zesty aroma. The full body and dry finish create a refreshing autumn ale, perfect for any crisp afternoon or cool evening. The spicy hopsof this ale complement rich, flavorful foods. Chocolate mole enchiladas, Indian and Thai curries, and barbeque ribs will accompany nicely.

It poured a dark brown color with a small off-white head. The aroma was big citrus hops with a hint of malt. The flavor was malty with coffee, some grassy hops, and some orange. A very decent black IPA.

A nice hoppy porter from Grand Teton, lets see.. . Pours a deep brown, medium head, great sticky lacing .. . quite hoppy, with notes of tar and roast.. . kinda muddled and rushed, like alot of black ipas .. . happy to have tried it though! .. . my cat went from cappuccino to espresso in only 7 short years, amazing!

2010 bottle consumed 9/9/10 @ papago. orange tinted walnut stained brown with a pale beige head. the aroma and flavor are woody, roast, grapefruit, pine, spice and mild cocoa. it is a little bitter on the finish which cancels out the residual maltiness. medium bodied and quite quaffable.7/4/7/4/15

A black pour with a large tan head- lots of lacing. The aroma holds lots of bready malts, caramel, and hints of grassy citrus oriented hops. The flavor holds a great deal more roast, with the hop subtleties fading into the background. Medium bodied palate with low carbonation.

25.4 ounce bottle. Pours a nice red-black to a cloudy orange-brown (depending on sediment) with a decent one inch tan head that is clingy and slowly fades. Taste is of malt, hops, caramel, fruit, grapefruit, pine, resin and some alcohol. Similar aroma. The finish is a bit bitter, dry and warming. Leaves me wanting more. Has a nice full body that is a bit chewy and creamy. Surprisingly easy to drink and quite enjoyable. I wouldn’t mind having this again.

Pours black with a thin tan head with large carbonation bubbles and sporadic lacing. Aroma is of pine needles and roasted malts with just a slight amount of citrus. Flavor is sweeter than the aroma - roasted coffee, toasted pine needles, and light chocolate. Medium mouth-feel, good carbonation.

Bottle sampled on 3/12/11: Pours a clear deep copper mahogany with a spotty-lacing off-white head. Has a lightly sweet toasty dark caramel malty nose with some fresh grapefruity hoppy notes. Starts with good fullness and lightly sweet toasty dark malts with a clean fresh resiny hop flavor before a drier crisp bittersweet finish. A nice black IPA.

Poured into a shaker glass. Color is dark brown/black with a thin tab head. Aroma is all hops, mostly resinous hops. Flavor is a nice combination of roasted malt and hops. Still hoppy like an IPA but has a nice smooth mouthfeel and roasted quality. Palate is medium bodied with a slightly bitter finish. Overall this is my first black IPA but I am liking the style so far.

Poured from the bottle into one of my shaker glass’. Pours dark brown almost black. thin tan head with lots of lacing. Aroma is all hops! Flavour is bitter up front, really nice hop flavours. Then finishes totally roasty. I love Black Ipa’s, and usually they are more roast, or more hops, but this one seems very well balanced! One of the best Grand Teton beers I’ve had!! Now that I’ve gone black, I can’t go back!!!
