COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Wake Up Call Imperial Coffee Porter has a distinct and robust coffee flavor that blends harmoniously with the roasted malts. Caramel, chocolate, and black malts give this ale its dark color and overtones of caramel and a cocoa-like sweetness. Only very gently hopped, the addition of coffee shines through, providing a delicious accent to this brew.

Tap @ Avery, doing the 10th Annual Boulder Strong Ale Festival. Pours black with a small white head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, wheat, dried fruit. Taste is malts, coffee, bourbon, sweets, vanilla, dark dried fruit. Medium body, soft carbonation. 090312

At Avery’s 2012 Strong Ale Fest. Black with a small creamy tan head. Enticing aroma of cold toddy and chocolate graininess. Slight vanilla in the nose as well. Taste is bright starting but quickly turns to a coffee tone. Kinda begins almost light fruity, but then gets cold coffee and light chocolate tones to finish. Feels a little disjointed.

Bomber bottle. Pours black, tan head. Slight chocolate aroma, thin chocolate coffee taste, really a bit weak all around for an Imperial. Easily hit the snooze button on this one.

I’m not sure I can say enough bad things about this beer. If it weren’t for the gorgeous look and relatively nice mouthfeel, it would be garbage. This was a horrible attempt at a coffee stout. Low alcohol. Bland flavor profile. Smell and taste of old, stale coffee that has sat in the pot for far too long. In fact, had flavors of overextracted espresso. Awful, and extremely bitter. Not a fan.

Bottle. Black with a fizzy white head. Sweet coffee, milk chocolate, and roasted grain aroma and taste with nice creamy chocolate notes. Good smooth silky palate. Yeah, it’s a really good beer.

750 bottle. Black with a small head. Nose is coffee, toffee, burnt malts. Huge bitter coffee flavors with some average maltiness. A bit thin. OK but not great.

Bottle from beernovice39. Dated Aug 23, 2011. Pours very dark brown with tan head. Big coffee aroma with roasted malts and chocolate. Similar flavors with bitter day old coffee. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Decent, but not as good as I was hoping. Thanks Mark.

750ml, 2011 bottling. Aroma of chocolate and (you guessed it!) coffee, somewhat sweet and roasty, with notes of dark caramel, nut, faint smoke, cream and toasted bread. Brown-black in color with a lasting, foamy tan head. Coffee permeates every aspect of the flavor from start to finish, but is offset with enough chocolate, black bread and dark, malty sweetness to avoid being overly roasty or ashy, finishing with a light-moderate degree of bitterness and spicy, earthy hop flavors, ending fairly dry. Creamy and soft on the palate, effervescence is very present but smooth, body is medium. Very drinkable for a Strong Porter style, not a lot of complexity perhaps but overall is very much as advertised.

wow, a grand teton in a 12oz’er .. . pours a basic pond brown .. . light lacing, big bubbled .. . leather, nut skin, and a touch of bark and coffee .. . pretty well masked in the abv area and quite simple .. . . then he takes my pals, then he makes fun of the way i talk, probably...
