Wake Up Call Imperial Coffee Porter has a distinct and robust coffee flavor that blends harmoniously with the roasted malts. Caramel, chocolate, and black malts give this ale its dark color and overtones of caramel and a cocoa-like sweetness. Only very gently hopped, the addition of coffee shines through, providing a delicious accent to this brew.

One of those big old Teton bottles, I spied it at the Christmas party. Pours a dark cloudy brown color with a medium white head. The aroma is sweet coffee and some vanilla. The flavor ends up as a nice brew with cocoa, massive dominating milky and roasted coffee, some toffee and caramel. Simple and nice.

Sampled at an esbls tasting. I brought this. Dark with red and a smallish tan head. Coffee and nutsvin thevaroma. Dry coffee to start. Some dark fruit and sweetness comes through. Hops are scarce but the coffee brings some bitterness,

Bottle from Healthy Spirits. Pours dark brown with a thick tan head and a coffee and chocolate aroma. There is a rich chocolate and treacle flavor with a coffee finish. Sweet and tasty.

Tulip at Barleysís Brewhaus in Shawnee. Pours jet black with a thin, creamy beige head. The nose is a nicely integrated blend of cocoa, coffee and roasted malt. Medium-bodied and slick with a roasty finish; just a touch of hop bitterness. The flavor follows the nose with a touch of earthy hops in the mix. Nice beer.

On tap at Bad Apple, Chicago. Vanilla bean and coffee roast on the nose, and a bit of carob. Sharp, almost powdery coffee flavor sits on top of somewhat fruity carob and nicely sweet milk chocolate. The choc morphs into a drier, Bakers variety in the finish. Smooth, medium body. Very flavorful for a porter. Vaguely nutty in the dry finish, with a slightly tangy and bitter hop character that took me a while to identify (though now it seems obvious). This is a sum less than the parts beer for me; I donít like it as much as I feel I should given how good my deconstruction sounds to me. Maybe because the dry finish (which is enjoyable in its own right and long-lasting) doesnít seem right following the slick sweetness in the beginning (which is also independently nice). Although the more I drink, the more its growing on me.

750 ml bottle. Bottled on Sep. 22, 2011. Pours impenetrable black with a medium-large tan lacy head with decent retention. Aroma is espresso, milk chocolate, tobacco, leather, caramel. Taste is sweet and sour with a dry bitter finish. Coffee is strong in flavor. Faintly spicy in the finish. Carbonation is average and the mouthfeel is creamy. Body could be fuller. Although itís really tasty, there are better coffee beers out there (even though that sounds like a slight, It still gets a 4.0, meaning itís definitely a worthy beer).

Poured into a Tulip glass. Aroma was very nice chocolatey coffee. Color is dark with a tan head, and lots of lacing. Flavor is slightly bitter, coffee, chocolate. Palate is nice and full bodied with a oily finish. Very good brew.

Very dark and almost opaque, dark caramel brown at edges. Head quickly fades with no lacing. Nose is mostly coffee and roasted malts and some dark currant. Dark roasted coffee and malts echoed in taste. Medium palate and body. Alcohol pretty well hidden. Nice, but pretty one dimensional.
