4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours jet black with a finger of mocha head. Smells of roasted malts and strong coffee scent. Taste confirms the nose, lots of roasted malts, smoky background. Clean creamy finish, medium bodied. Overall a very good Porter from Grand Teton, another great entry from their Cellar Reserve series.

2011 bottle. This one might be past it’s prime. There is nt much coffee in there just old porter. Stale malt and smoke. No sweetness. Not a big fan

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A: near black opaque with two fingers mocha foam. This falls over a couple minutes to a centrally capped sheet of the same. Spot lace.
S: Coffee, bittersweet cocoa, dry soil, some hints of cream. I candig it.
T: Again coffee, there;s some more coffee. Some toasted malts and bitter hops. Simple and somewhat elegant.
M: medium bodied with lively carb and a wet finish.
O: nice beer. Better a little warmer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark brown pour with a tan head. The aroma has a lot of coffee and chocolate notes. The flavor is more of the same with a ton of coffee, chocolate and roasted malt. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at happy gnome. Pours black with a thin khaki head that quickly dissipates. Muted coffee notes on the nose. Fairly faint coffee on the tongue as well with just a hint of leafy hoppiness on the finish. I’m not sure if Surly Coffee bender is still predominant in my mouth of if this beer is just underwhelming.

4.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
2011 year. Aroma is a complex combination of rich, roast notes with hints of sweet caramel mixed in. Reminded me of a toasted marshmallow. Pours a dark brown with a nice tan head that starts at about a half inch and settles slowly. The taste is absolutely fantastic. The coffee notes blend perfectly with the sweetness of the malts. Porters are not usually my cup of tea, but damn... I tasted dark chocolate and cherries mixed in, too. I have to say this is definitely in my to 10 beers.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle courtesy of jtclockwork. Deep dark pour. Small khaki head which disappears immediately, leaving nice tan lace. Nose is a perfect, fresh cup of coffee with some chocolate notes. Rich, roasty malt flavor upfront, a bit of sweetness. Like a black, dark roast cup of coffee on the back end, with a bitter finish. Medium mouthfeel, true to style. Developed a nice creaminess as it warmed up. Quite tasty coffee porter. Although defined as "imperial" the 7.5% abv was nicely hidden.

dark brown color. Creamy light brown head. Fresh cup of coffee with a tootsie roll and dark fruit. Off dry, coffee and chocolate. The nose is a bit more interesting than mouth. Med body. Very malty. Lingering coffee finish.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft at Jerry’s. Black with big, foamy, brown head / Rich nose of lightly sour malt, coffee, chocolate, and smoke / Medium to full body, chewy, hint of sweetness but dry, with excellent balance and bitter finish / Flavors of dark roast coffee, bittersweet chocolate, caramel, smoke, nut, and grass / On dry side, but fine balance and body.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bomber from 2011 bottling. Pours an opaque brown-black with a minimal mocha head, not much retention (could be my glass). Nose is mostly malt with some toffee notes. Mouth is relatively thin, primarily malty with some light roast coffee notes and some caramel. Finish is non-eventful. Would like to do a ’now and then’ comparison with a more recent bottling of this.
