On tap at petes brass rail in danville. Pours very dark brown with a brown head. The aroma is very oaky with some vinous notes and a strong roasted malt character. The flavor is awesome. Not too sweet, with lots of oak, vanilla, plum, and a nice ashy finish. Thick bodied, but pleasing on the palate. A very nice surprise!

TAP. Tasted in 2010. Black, opaque pour with tan head. Oak, dark fruit, bourbon, and slight vanilla. Nice balance of full flavor but not overbearing. Smooth.

Tap @ Stone Oakquinox. Pours black with a small creamy beige head. Interesting nose of smoked oak, bittersweet chocolate, coconut and light coffee. Nice and thick on the palate with cocoa and coffee.....damn tasty.

On tap at the Stone Oakquinox 2010. Pours a dark black, tan head. Roasted malt, creamy chocolate, oak, bourbon, some small amount of dark fruit. Nice imp stout, not to over the top.

Tap at Hamilton’s. Black with a small tan head, fading to a thin ring before long. Oak, soy, and roast dominate the aroma wih some bourbon coming from behind. There are also some berry and wine notes. Not overly boozy, but there is a good amount of Bourbon and oak followed by some umami notes. A little bit of vinous fruit and dark chocolate follow. Semi-dry with some old oak and bitterness at a 4, minimal alcohol presence. Full body, low carbonation. Good.

UPDATED: JUL 5, 2010 Draft @ Bobby G’s Pizzeria. Pours a deep, dark chocolate color with cola-colored edges; medium-tan head with good retention and medium-bubbled lacing. Loads of milk chocolate, creamy bourbon notes, and lots of pleasant vanilla and toasty notes in the aroma; very creamy and smooth. Medium-to-full body: lots of milk chocolate, roasted malts, and toasty maltiness at the forefront; nicely roasted, very creamy. Loads of vanilla and milk chocolate and a seamlessly integrated, toasty bourbon note; very lovely, creamy stuff; hints of alcohol and warming bourbon and light char. Lasting finish: ash, milk and dark chocolate, some lingering creamy bourbon and milk chocolate notes.

Pitch black with a small coffee colored head. Very fragrant with black currants, chocolate, a hint of espresso, and blackberries. Full flavor is bitter but mellow. More coffee and less berries in the finish. A bit thin on the palate, but it’s still an amazing beer!
