COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
To commemorate that twenty-year history, the brewers of Grand Teton have chosen four of our favorite beers--three current, one historical--to update and enhance. XX Au Naturale Organic Double Red Ale is the third release in our 2008 XX series. Au Naturale Organic Blonde is the newest member of Grand Teton's mainstay beers, first brewed in 2006. Crafted with organic German malt and hops, it has a clean, smooth character reminiscent of the best European lagers. For our 20th Anniversary celebration, we've traded in the blonde for a redhead while keeping our German roots. Still brewed with all German organic malt and hops, the XX Au Naturale is bigger, maltier--and redder--than the original. The reddish Vienna malts that give this ale its color provide a spicy sweetness and some caramel notes that perfectly complement roast or grilled chicken, pizza, or pasta.

Sampled out of a 1L bottle. Pour is a cloudy amber with flavors mostly of caramel. There is also some red fruit flavors and a slight tinge of bitter hops on the finish. A little thin and disappointing really for something called a double anything. Looks pretty tasty though.

Hazy reddish brown with a small beige head. Very resiny hop aroma reminiscent of marijuana. Strong earthy bitterness tempered by a solid caramel backbone. Dry finish.

Bottle Thanks to JohnGalt1. If it was not for Toby I never would have nad this. The big Teton wax flip tops are not for me. Pours out a crisp clear amber topped with a light cream head.Aroma is of floral hops, some toasty malts and a little sweetness. Taste is much more of the toast malts and light nut..

Pour is clear amber with a fluffy dense khaki head...smell is sweet and toasty with some pears, fresh bread, and a slight hint of sourness (not good sour)...taste is sweet and musty at first with a very cereal sweetness...come caramel and molasses flavors as well...a little cardboardy (probably due to age)...some light bitterness is hanging out in there still as well...finish is lingeringly and not unpleasant...

2008 Bottle - Thanks JohnGalt1!! - Always love an opportunity to taste the GT reserves...this one pours clear, dk orange with a decent sized off white head...aroma is malty and grainy, sweet caramel, I’m the only one who got a little bit of maple, I swear it was there...flavour featured it also, but it might have just been some toasted malt, dry syrup, nutty and tries for sweet but remains fairly dry....massive carbonation didn’t help augment the taste, and it finishes a bit thin...glad I got to try it...

cathcacr (620) - Oregon, USA - DEC 24, 2009
UPDATED: DEC 26, 2009 Maybe it’s aged too long, maybe it’s just that it’s Organic. Whatever. It just doesn’t have any bite to it. The flavor is okay but generic. The strong point is the appearance, a nice semi-opaque reddish-brown with good foam retention. Flavor has a bit of nuttiness. Palate is soft but quite watery in feel. Kinda disappointed, really.

i liter bottle from Rare Beer Club. Malty, nutty, toasty aromas. Pours rich amber red with a very thin white head. Rich malty and slightly nutty, toasted malts, caramelly with some spicy hops. Not bad.

1 litre swing top bottle poured a clear dark reddish amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of carmel, earthines, sherry and light fruittiness. palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of carmel, earthiness and light fruittiness with a smooth dry malty finish.

Dated 7/10/08 Pours hazy amber with a big off white head. Big malty aroma. Caramel, fruity, and a bit of spicy hop. Flavor is sweet and grainy malt, with a little weak iced tea flavor. I would say that this bottle is past its prime.

Wax Dipped Flip top. Bottle date 11/11/08. Shared with TomThompson & Camerons crew post Beer wars. Medium amber pour. Caramel malts, vienna Eliot Ness similarity here. Lighter body, clean, malty sweetness. Decent but my least favorite of the Four Teton beers we had

Copper colored with a small to medium head. Not sure this really counts as a strong ale given its ABV. Aroma of some caramel sweetness and a malt presence.
