cathcacr (586), Portland, Oregon, USA Sep 1, 2007 This is advertised as "Double," not "Imperial." Same diff. As IIPAs go, it’s tops. Resiny, sticky, smooth, pretty much what you’d expect out of an excellent IIPA. Wasatch (270), Layton, Utah, USA Oct 25, 2008 750ml
Swing Top/Green Wax
Pours a very nice hazy dark golden orange color, very nice carbonation (loud POP), very nice two-finger thick creamy off-white head, lots of nice thick creamy sticky lacing left behind. The nose is more on the sweet malty side, with some hops, grapefruit/citrus, slight pines. The taste is sweet, malty, hoppy, bitter/chewy, with some nice citrus/pine notes. Medium body, this is another very tasty brew from GT, a more malty DIPA, but still very tasty. Very drinkable, highly recommended, Thanks Bill.
RSRIZZO (1345), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Jul 19, 2008 Aroma is a sweet hop scent with a little malt in the back. Color is a slightly hazy amber gold with mellow carbonation and a thin head. Taste is sweet, hoppy then bitter. Starting with a medium body it goes down smooth with a rich feel. Finish comes in malty sweet with a little caramel, then a big bold hop flavor with some citrus that has a hint of orange. After taste is a lingering citrus with a mild bitterness. This is a great Double IPA, its extremely well balanced and very drinkable, yet big, rich and bold. Bockyhorsey (2487), Mesa, Arizona, USA Nov 14, 2007 2006 bottle coutesy of Footy. Dry citrus grapefruit aroma along with some sweet malt. Copper body with good beige head and plenty of lacing. Flavor was dry resiny at first. But the second glass is where as beer warm to room temp a good citrus grapefruit sweet and sugary body texture was present. Not as dry as some IIPA but that was fine for me. Thanks Rudy SpudClampDawg (1027), Jasper, Indiana, USA Mar 17, 2007 Updated: Mar 18, 2007One liter swingtop and waxed bottle: I’m sorry but I have to ask - why the wax guys? Took a few minutes to shave through it and break free the hinge to get the top open. Enough work, now I need a beer. Pours an amazingly clear, fiery autumn with a sticky head. The nose is light but pleasant, full of resiny citrus hops. Lively carbonation pushes the hoppy body around the tongue. I guess krausening may result in uneven carbonation in bottles - because our bottle is perfect. Really bright hops here with fantastic definition. Grapefruit, orange peel, lemon are abundant with a moderate bitterness. Sweet caramel malts back things up. Nice, long hoppy finish. Great, great stuff. dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Feb 17, 2007 Great hoppy citrus aroma. Taste has good hops at finish and some much better flavor throughout. Think it may be a little underrated. sneagrams3 (1704), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Jun 9, 2007 Swingtop 2006 edition. Hazy and ruby. Solid layer of clinging white head. Sugary sweet aromas with a modest alcohol burn. Fruity hop undertones as well. Full bodied and super smooth. Then a big bold alcohol punch. Big bitter grapefruit flavor that hits then mellows to a sweet sticky lingering finish. Wonderful citrus note. Liked better than the Blue Dot. This is money. bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark Jul 12, 2007 Bottle. Almost clear and amber coloured with a small off-white head. Very well balanced with notes of malt, citrus, flowers, pines and caramel. Really hoppy - YIR!
