COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Special (One Hop series) - July 2006.
Each beer features a single variety of hop from around the world. Every beer in the series undergoes five separate additions of the particular hop into the brew kettle. Whole hops are then added to the “hopback”, in which the hot brew passes on its way to the fermenter. All the beers will have the same degree of hoppy bitterness, and drinkers are able to compare the aroma, flavour, and pleasing aftertaste of each of the varieties. Instead of using specialty malts that might mask the flavour of the hop, only Maris Otter pale malt is used. Maris Otter is the finest strain of malt available. With only pale malt used, there is little to come between the hop lover and the hop.

Cask at GBBF, August 2006. An attractive looking beer in good condition - bright, mid gold colour with a lasting fluffy head. Very light, herbaceous hop aroma with a hint of resin. Some grapefruit on the palate. Extremely dry, with a lot of bitterness, tending towards astringency. Not very aromatic. One of the more austere of the One Hop series. But I rather like these dry, steely bitters so that wasn’t too much of a problem for me.

Cask at GBBF 2006. An orange beer with an off-white head. The aroma is sweet with light hoppy notes. The flavor is sweet malty combined with an OK hoppiness giving it primarily floral notes, but also some notes of oranges, leading to a dry bitter end.

Seems to be a sarcastic name, and hard to find which one of the Single hop was this. Too bitter for me and well brewed.

Cask (GBBF 2006): Boring gold with a large white head. A bit astringent, with some fresh grapes and metallic bitterness in the finish. Ok, but rusty.

Cask@GBBF 06. Some sweet grainy pale malts. Hops are green/grassy, with some light, slightly citric bitterness, average.

Cask conditioned - handpump - GBBF. A blonde coloured beer with a white frothy head - maybe suggesting it was running out? The aroma was pretty hard to find whereas the taste had a decent hop level and was reasonably bitter. A bit of a disappointing soapy background though.

Cask at GBBF 2006. Golden with thick lasting cream head. Reasonably nice hop. Yes, it’s quite drinkable. Probably not the best in the One Hop series (don’t think I’ve heard of the hop variety), but it is herby on the finish.
