I’m the first to admit that I haven’t always been overly impressed by Grand Union beers, possibly because I have always had them at beer festivals, where circumstances and conditioning are not always perfect. However, this was a real revelation. Its golden amber in colour, with a big fragrant, resiny hop rush in the aroma - very American in character. Lots of citric hops in the flavour, with tropical fruits and a solid malt background. A good wallop of alcohol too. Fine balance and a firm, dry, hoppy finish. Rather difficult to categorise, but excellent stuff. I don’t know whether this is a one-off or a regular - keep making this stuff, Tom, it could well turn out to be the Grand Union signature brew.
