JAF737300 (733), New York, New York, USA Oct 28, 2007 POurs deep copper with really nice notes of fruit and bitererness on the nose and the palate. It finishes with a smooth but bitter flavor.
Rastacouere (5270), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Aug 10, 2008 Objectively speaking:
The dry-hopped version of the best bitter. Hoppier, but less easy to drink.
I like:
Keeps more or less the same authenticity in the malt profile than the best bitter.
I dislike:
Its fresh hops bouquet does not provide much. We’re simply getting further away from Britain, it’s sharper without feeling fresher and even becomes a bit less easy to drink in my mind. More intense, but it becomes harder to capt the toasty nuances from the malts.
VeloVampire (387), Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 14, 2008 Cask sample at the Victory - poured a murky but bright plum colour with a small off-white head. Really nice looker. Aromas of citrusy hops and dark fruits, but nothing overpowering - incredibly well-balanced and enticing on the nose. Flavour is wonderfully refreshing, with fruit black tea, and definitely moreish. Good bitter punch in the finish, and the dry-hopping is a step up from their regular (still very good) bitter. A wonderful beer - one I would get regularly if more widely available. matt7215 (564), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada Jun 1, 2008 on cask at the toronto brewery location. amber with and small tan head. hoppy nose but a lack of malts is a little dissapointing. flavours are hoppy citrus but a lack of malt structure lets you down. with some biscut maltiness this could be really good. a fair offering id have again. Blasphemies (45), Ontario, Canada May 4, 2008 Nice coppy colour. Aroma a bit hoppy. Light carbonation, served at a nice temperature. Surprised at how much fruity citrus flavor was in it with the bitter. very enjoyable. Not sure if I like this one better than the regular best bitter at the granite, both are very good. DerWeg (432), Tronna, Ontario, Canada Mar 31, 2008 FIRKIN CASK at Bar Volo. Hazy orange, pond-like appearance. Comes at the taste buds with a celluloid, spicy attack that must be the hops, very unusual, and the finish is primarily of bitter hops. The middle and body is fruity and smooth, not cloying. Pretty beer!
