Cask at Cask Days 2011. Beer #19 of festival. Pours a very dark brown with ruby hues and a spare bubbly tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, a hint of smoke and some sweetness (brown sugar?). Dry, roasty flavour along with a hint of coffee, light leafy hops, some fruit and an average bitter finish. Average bodied. Good, an O.K. version of the style.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 garthicus (2089) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 30, 2011
Cask. Appearance: malty, smoke, sweetness, grain, not much in the hop department. Flavour: lots of malt, a little smoke, hops & spice. Well balanced but just a bit boring.

[3782-20110624] Tap. Odd vanilla fruit aroma with a hint of cocoa roast. Slightly hazy, dark red brown body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Cocoa-infused lightly-roasted malt flavour. Medium body is a little dry. Nice to sample. (7-/3/7/3/13) 3.3

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Spab (1196) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 1, 2011
On tap at brewpub on Father’s Day. Pours a fairly dark brown with a good-sized fluffy tan head. Aroma of fairly roasty toffee malt with modest earthy hops. Flavour has strong roasted toffee malt profile with some fruitiness and moderate earthy, floral hops. Lingering roasty bitterness. No hop bomb but nice.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jerc (5591) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 30, 2011
2011-06-24. Dark brown body with a creamy tan head. Flavour is malty, bit of cocoa like malt, sweet base malt with notes of caramel, light bitterness in the finish, light roast. Cocoa like roast malt and chocolate malt in the aroma, muted hops.7+ Average plus bodied palate. Seems to have hit more of the Darkside and less of the IPA, but it is enjoyable regardless. UPDATED: DEC 11, 2011 Rerate: cask at C’est What. Deep black pour with a tight creamy tan head. The aroma has a little bit of roast and chewy hop resin along with a little bit of sticky chewy leafy hop aroma. Sort of chewy and fairly hoppy along with a little bit of toasted grain. Fresh and chewy with a lot of roast and a bit of soft fruit and a touch of grapefruit as well. It’s soft and chewy with a bit of lingering hop flavour and aroma. Damn - a world apart from the first time I had it.
Deep amber pour. Fairly watery aroma. A bit of soft earthy hoppiness. Earthy bItterness and a touch of light toffee. Meh - not all that great. A bit of licorice and aniseed.
