Cask at barhop. The aroma is malty, very roasted, almost burnt. The taste is licorice, burnt wood, alcoholic and grapefruit. The finish is smoke.

Tap at the brewpub. Brown with a glare of mahogany. Head creamy white, dissipates slowly. Really sweet! Both nose and flavour. Dark malts and nougat, chocolate... nutty, hoppy, some red berry sour notes. Nice lingering bitter finish. Refreshing, thin carbonation. Body light to medium. Not like any other BIPA-s Iíve had. A peculiar one, but in itself quite nice.

On tap at Granite. Light toasty aroma without much hops. Licorice, dark fruit, slight c-hops, chocolate malt, and a bitter finish. Good, but below average for black ipa.

Cask @ Crooked Star, while waiting for Bellwoods to open. Dark brown with amber highlights, low tan head that leaves early lace . Dark malts, lightly roasty, with sweet papaya and melon hop character, moderate bitterness. More like a hoppy brown, but nice.

Draft. Dark brown colour with a thin off white head. Roast malt aroma, some caramel. Taste is similar, toasty malt, some slight sweetness, bitter finish.

Draft - Light toasted malts and very light earthy hops. Dark maroon with a bubbly white head. Roasted malts and an almost astringent hop bitterness that imparts no good flavours. Finish brings out the hops but itís a bit late. Not a fan.

I got married here and this was on cask. black brown in colour with head sporting fine bubbles. Aroma of roast, caramel, but muted and a floral hops note. Medium hoppy brew that is well balanced with malts and roast. tasty caramel mid palate as well. It was my wedding beer and that isnít the worst thing ever!

Grabbed a growler from the granite beer store on way back from Bruce trail hike. Pours black metal dark with a thin, bubbly vanilla milkshake cap. Tastes flowers as glass empties: simple maltiness becomes complex chocolate. Now that Iíve opened the growler I gotta drink the whole thang. Oh life, sometimes you make me smile.

A deep dark IPA with a thin brown head. In aroma, sweet chocolate malt with light caramel and fruity esters. In mouth, a nice roasted chocomalth with grassy hops, light caramel, OK.
