Growler shared by my friend Mike. Deep caramel, slightly hazed. Pours a thin mocha head. Aromas of stone fruit, (citrus), plum and other pit fruit, caramel, a metallic twang, bread crust. Tastes very sweet, with almost no hops. Funny thing is that it doesn’t seem to need much hops. The fruitiness and sweetness is good. Not overly so. Lots of plum and caramel, citrus, a slight metallic hit. Seems balanced, but the hops aren’t present. A strange little beer that I enjoyed quite a lot. Thanks Mike, for sharing!

CASK DAYS Volo Toronto - Dark, thin look. Faint aroma. Med Body & taste of dry & rootsy herbs. Dark berry fruit, fine noble hop, sarsaparilla, kola, faint lemon, leafy greenness, some tart tropical fruit (guava, maracuja) - solid and austere, rather than loose, with good fullness & body, and a hint tobbacco.

Deep ruby, thin lingering off white head, light lacing. Aroma is of light berries, moderate sweetness, light alcohol. Flavour is of alcohol, moderate sweetness, berries, minerial. Sweet mouthfeel, medium/light body, medium carbonation. Finishes fairly quick, uneventfull.

Pretty boring, uneventfull, basic, plain.

Draught at Volo in Toronto, Ontario.

A dark reddish brown ale with a thcik creamy moka head. A nice treacle, molasses and licorice, quite nice. In mouth, a good licorice malt with warming alcohol and treacle. Medium bodied. On tap at the brewpub with Sammy, March 22, 2009.

Dark amber, some head and lace, aroma is caramelly but also fruity and funky, a bit vinegary. Dark malty flavours that are a little too sweet. Some wood and bready tastes to it. Not bad.
