Draught at the Magpie - came a clear raspberry hue with a small off-white head. Really sweet malty aroma with some dried, dark fruits and a good amount of grape and prune. Flavour nicely soft and full of plum, cherry and sweet grain. Boozy, too. Perhaps more in keeping with the historical barley wines, rather than current U.S. versions - but really, who knows; I wasn’t there.

Dark amber, some head and lace, aroma is caramelly but also fruity and funky, a bit vinegary. Dark malty flavours that are a little too sweet. Some wood and bready tastes to it. Not bad.

Aroma: sweet fruity aroma with a nice earthy balancing character,
Flavor: rich sweet dark caramel flavor, lots of earthy character, touch of fruityness, the earthyness dries it out a lot,

Appearance: Pours a hazy, reddish-brown body sporting a small, white head. Smell: Relatively mild aroma, but you can glean notes of caramel, apricot juice, and marinated cherries. Taste: Sweet caramel maltiness, then you receive a sharp, fruity blast of apricots and maraschino cherries. Gin Lane Ale offers no real hop bitterness, leaving you with a sweet, malty fruit juice. Just a hint of heat on the sweetish finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: A fine, very easy-drinking barleywine.

Growler: Pours a transparent dark copper amber with a spotty-lacing white head. Aroma of lightly sweet and tart caramel notes with a fruity esters comlpexity. Body starts lightly caramely sweet with a touch of fruity esters and an earthy mildly citric flavor Finishes semi-sweet and tart. A decent barleywine with some light fruity complexity.
