Dark brown with a thick tan head. Malty aroma with a little toffee and a slight hint of coffee chocolate. The flavour has the same hints at the aroma but more of the roasted flavours are coming through. The body was thick and lightly watery. Pretty decent beer.

Sep 24, 2008 Brewpub @ Toronto. Opaque black with thick tan cappucino-like head. Rich coffee nose is smooth and warming, inviting. Hints of hazelnuts too. Thin, quaffable mouthfeel. Dry coffee flavors. Powdery and delightfully dry, my kind of stout.

A fair example of this very dull style.
I like:
Pleasantly roasty, which at least gives it some flavour. As advertised, a mostly dry beer with the mildest sour hint.
I dislike:
Deceptively light-bodied. Creamy, ashes-infused texture leaving a thin and soft astringency impression. Little complexity at all, no trace of fruitiness.

Jul 15, 2008 Bu au pub de Toronto, en fut (10 oz). Brune brulée, petit collet beige avec de la dentelle. Arome de malte roti, un peu chocolaté. Goût de malte cafiné amère, légère touche de chocolat noir. Un bon stout simple et sans prétantion!

Apr 2, 2008 On tap - Volo. Jet black, very proud fawn coloured head, beautiful. Aroma: Chocolate - smoke aroma, charcoal in there also, coffee too. Flavour: Smooth, smokey, chocolate and coffee, so smooth, so drinkable, wow, I would drink a dozen in a sitting. What a solid brew.
