Draft - Spices dominate, almost root beer like. Clove and cinnamon dominate. Jet black with a rich beige head. Roasted malts, spices melded nicely and not as overpowering as the nose. Bit of chocolate and spices in the finish. Although not my type of beer, not a bad example.

[4859-20121013] Cask. Lots of oatmeal toasted grains with a hint of coffee. Black brown body with no lasting head. Dry coffee toasted grains flavour. Full body. Tasty and very drinkable. (7/3-/8/4/15) 3.7

Big points for the chai smell. Palate is pretty watery. A little sour on the aftertatse. Pours like coke without any lacing or head. A little sourness in the aftertaste with a bit of malt and no bitterness. On tap at volo.

Cask at Cask Days 2012. First beer of the day! Pours black with a small bubbly light-brown head. Aroma is spicy (not sure if I get Chai though) and a little bit sweet as well, along with some vanilla and lightly roasted malt. Flavour of caramel malt, spices and a bit of tea. Finish is dry and quite bitter. Slightly watery. Medium bodied. Not great but pretty good, it was interesting.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a very dark brown with moderate-sized light brown head. Aroma is prominent but not overpowering chai, light roasty malt and fruit. Chai definitely dominates the flavour, with roasty malt more subtle and a very gentle fruitiness. A little watery and a thinner body than I’d anticipated. Decent.

Great roasted malt aroma, robust and chocolatey. The chai tea is subtle but pleasant, with some nice grassy hops. The chai mingles wonderfully with the roasted malts. Medium bitterness, with a solid roasty, dry finish.

October 27, 2012 - 8th Annual Volo Cask Days. Cloudy brown-black with a minimal tan frothy head. Middling, slightly sweet nutty stout roast aroma with a bit of "dark" fruit and something suggesting herbal/medicinal bitterness around the edges - pretty standard, really. The taste is not as sweet, I do get a little gritty tea character behind the roast; no real alcohol presence. Solid body, chewy and undercarbonated, a little dry acidity emerges in the slightly herbal (minerally?) quick finish. Decent.

At Cask days 2012, oatmeal sweetness with noticeable herbal tea notes. Almost no bitter, at 21 ibu’s, slight dry aftertaste. Nice imaginative brew.

2012-10-13. Black, oily body, near headless. Aroma is mild than I expected, mild dark roast malt and very muted spice if you look hard, maybe. Dry bitter roast malt in the flavour, muted chai spice in the finish that I probably wouldn’t have pulled out without knowing it was there. (Is it just in my head?!?) 7+ Smooth medium to full bodied palate, low carbonation. Pretty solid stout. Enjoyable. Cask at Pre-Cask Days Event, Bellwoods, Toronto

From cask, pours a dark brownish, aroma is nice a bit fruity, a light roast in the flavour, the finish very dry a bit harsh, the front of the beer is sweet and a bit tart, the chai is overall hidden, decent offering
