Tap - good size thick head, hazy deep orange color, big grapefruit citrus hop aroma and flavor, a hint of pine in there too - pretty good for Granite City, definitely one or their better ones

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Had on 12-23-2010 at Lincoln, NE. Best six dollar pitcher I ever bought. They put the pitcher down in front of me and I was entranced. Not as malty as I would like. Very piney flavor.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
growler from my father in law, pours hazy light amber with a tall frothy off white head. Mellow citrus hop aroma is notes of toast and bread. Very strong pine hop flavor with a lightly sweet bready malt touch. Not bad, this packed a bigger punch than I thought.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
draft at Ft Wayne GC - Pours deep copper with a big off-white head. The aroma is all about the grapefruit accented hops. The flavor is intensely hopped with citrus and a touch of pine. The hop bitterness is not as intense as some double IPAs though the style is still clear. A malt body with a hint of caramel lends a little sweetness to it and the accustomed hop heavy finish of the style is there. Itís not the best double IPA, but itís good and Iím pleasantly surprised GC offers this less accessible style for a change. They poured it into their usual 25 oz mug club member glass, which surprised me as well. Thatís a heck of a lot of brew at 9% abv.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Maumee, Ohio location. Murky orange amber color with a sticky khaki head. Orange citrus hop nose with some earthy notes. Strong hop flavors with a lot of orange rind, marmalade, apricot around a toffee and caramel sweetness. Lots of malts creating a nice balance for this claimed 9% beer. Not as aggressive as most IIPAs, but a pretty nice beer.
