Tap at GC Madison. Not quite opaque black burgundy. Massive beige nitro head. Smooth and luscious Stout..sort of in the Sweet Stout style. Nitro accentuates the watery GC body, but there is a lot of chocolate/oatmeal sweetness. Rather pedestrian and standard, but enjoyable enough. Coffee, roast tones.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 noncaloric (684) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 22, 2008
UPDATED: MAR 9, 2009 Draft at Madison. Dark brown, creamy beige head, probably served on nitro. Aroma is not as muted as in some other nitro stouts, some nice roast malts going on. Flavor is roasted malts, some smoke and chocolate on the tail. Smooth, but somewhat thin bodied. A passable Guinness clone.

above average nitro stout.....not too wimpy, but just wimpy enough.....nice and roasty......i was a bit offended when i got the bill and saw that i was charged $5.25 for what they called 20 oz of beer. (it looked and drank like a pint to me) i’ll stop there, because if i don’t this will turn into a review of the restaurant not just the beer........

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 GeneralGao (3614) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - JUL 12, 2006
Draught at the Cedar Rapids, IA location. Opaque black with foamy light brown head that left a thin, filmy lace on the glass. Smelled of chocolate and roasted malt with a hint of anise and a dash of molasses. Flavor was well rounded with chocolate and coffee notes, but was not as complex as the aroma. There was a pleasant subdued campfire smoke finish. Carbonation was on the low end, and it was creamy, dry, and earthy on the tongue. Pretty good beer.

Draught at Cedar Rapids. Pours brown-black with almost no head (what head I can stir up is beige). The aroma is rich mocha, some vanilla, wood, and a bit of a boggy note. The flavor is bitter chocolate with forward roastiness. More earthy hop bitterness than I expected. Caramel and pine in the finish.
