Had on tap in Madison, WI in March 2013. This pours a dark brown color with a creamy light brown head. There is a sweet malt scent. The texture is pretty thin and light that is sweet, creamy with hints of cocoa. It’s fairly decent given the company as it compares pretty similar to Guinness. Tried it once, but probably not going to try again.

On tap in Sioux Falls, SD actually. Respectable stout here that is cheaper due to me using the Granite City Mug Club.

Black with light brown head. Not bad. Lots of roasted malt taste. Smooth. I guess this is the best of their beers. Still not too good.

came out ruby black with nice head and lacing. i’m excited to try something here with a little more to it but i guess this isn’t my day. roast on aroma and taste, thin and dry were the lasting impressions. i guess they’re content in brewing safe brew to appeal to the masses but i really wish they would have some fun.

Draft in a sampler at Granite City-Creve Coeur. Pours a very attractive, deep, opaque brown with a cascading creamy tan head that settles into a nice lasting cap. The aroma is roasty, with notes of chocolate, coffee, and some sugars. The flavor has dark chocolate, coffee, toasted sugar, and some bitter earthiness. The body seems initially full but quits quickly, if that makes sense. Bitter and gritty without having much substance. Moderate carbonation. Could be better.
