COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Winterfest always seems to fall on the same date as Minnesota’s largest cross country ski race the Vasaloppet in Mora, MN. There skiers nourish themselves on blueberry soup while racing. In honor of this great event we made a blueberry lager.

Tap. Red color, white head. Looks like a Raspberry brew. Tastes like blueberry candy. Sweet malt, fake fruit. Candy. that’s all. I’d never order it.

[On-tap at Cedar Rapids] Notes have been misplaced, so in need of a re-rate. Poured extremely reddish-purple with a small, slightly pinkish white head. Aroma is weak, with just vague sweet fruitiness. Taste is very fruity up front, more fruit punch than anything, with a sharp transition into the malt towards the end. The malt and fruit did not mesh well. Long finish. Overall, I was able to finish it, but it really wasn’t that enjoyable.

@ Granite City in Olathe (Kansas City) Blue-purple with no head. Malty aroma with bluberry. Flavour was tart berry over light malt body. Clean crisp finish.

Tap at Roseville, MN location. Red color with a small head. Light blueberry aroma and a distinct cough syrup note. Blueberry steps up a bit in the flavor. Very vinous and oddly tanic. A fair amount of dusty wheat in the background. Not too shabby.

On draught during Winterfest 2009 in St Paul, MN. Pours a clear reddish amber brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that dissipates to a clean top. Aroma of blueberries, golden grain malt, some citrus and grassy hops. Taste is light bodied, with flavors of golden grain malt, grassy hops and a touch of blueberries. Finish is slightly watery, crisp with very little aftertaste. Overall, a very light berry fruit beer.
