COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
One of the finest beers we have ever produced at Granite City. Lots of Brown and Crystal malts give a rich malt flavor, malted oats contribute a nutty, finish. The result is a great tasting beer.

Dark reddish orange with a fizzy off white head. Nice roasted barley aroma and taste with a strong nutty finish. Not bad.

Certainly the best offering I’ve had at Granite City, this Scots Ale is nice, full flavored, malty, and creamy, with a little note of spiciness. A bit above the standard brewpub offering, if somewhat less than the greats of the style.

Standard ale, quite indistinct. Poured from tap a strong red color with orange tinge, no head. Palate was very smooth, but the carbonation appeared stronger than expected and most other beers. Average malt flavor with a hint of caramel, nothing extraordinary.

This beer is really pretty decent, but still nothing much to it. I like some more complexity.

Pours mahogany with a light beige head. Malty and fruity ale ester aroma, but you have to wiff hard to get it. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Flavor of caramel malts, nuts, and vanilla. Too overattenuated for the style IMO.

Draft sample at IBG 2010 Winterfest. Poured clear dark brown color with medium creamy white head that mostil lasted with good lacing. Medium aroma of toasted malt and nuts. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium dark toasted sweet malt flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable brew.

Aroma of grain and alcohol. No hops, which is fine. Very carbonated, with a tall and thick head on top of the brown beer. Not rich really, in fact the palate is kind of thin.

This draft brew from the brew pub poured a small sized head of foamy with a frothy top tan colored bubbles that were quickly diminishing and left behind a opaque no visible carbonation and a poor lacing. The weak aroma was malty. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a lingering mild malt hop brown malt aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of toasted, mild burnt and brown malts. A decent one but not one that I would consider buying again.
