33 cl bottle. Brown/reddish color. Big, beige head. Sweet and roasted malt, sugar. Unplesant bitterness in the finish. Not balanced, too sweet.

0.33l bottle. Expectations to this one? None. It’s a clear deep deep nutty-brown beer with a nice medium sized beige and sidesticking head. It’s aroma is not to horrible actually; caramel, metallic tones, tobacco and surprisingly tones of vanilla. Unfortunately there is also a sour hint lurking in the background. The taste: Tempted to say that this does not taste taste beer - it’s more a metallic and sour soup with some thin hops. OK, that’s maybe a bit harsh of me, but still not to far from the truth. Some caramel indeed in this one and a strange sour-burned aftertaste that’s just confusing. I don’t think this is a good beer and definitely not a good Yule ale.

UPDATED: MAR 6, 2012 Flaske. Lysebrun farge med en bobblete beige topp. Lett bitter og noe søtlig malt aroma. Smaken er hinsides.....veldig tynn maltekstrakt... Hva tenkte de i Sandefjord julen 2010?

Pours dark bronze. Nose: banana and metal. Ok body for a Norwegian grocery store-strength beer. Malt-extract and water aroma.

Brown and amber colour wit an average tan head. Some malty aroma. Light sweetness, lightly bitter. Some malty taste, but it gets flat flavour later. Light body, thin feel, average carbonation, short finish. Not the best example of a juleøl.

Bottle 330ml. @ home.

[ Trade by Meilby ]. Clear medium to dark red amber color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, caramel, malt extract, sweet malt. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet with a average to long duration, malt extract, burnt malt - sugar sweet. IMO .. Not a bad beer but a borring, malt extract - artificial beer ! Body is medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. [20110121]

Bottle from a local supermarket. Pours a deep bronze body with a medium-sized and short-lived creamy off-white top. Nose is lots of metallic tones, some dark malts and hints of canned food and cooked veggies. Blah. Taste is slightly better, with the general maltiness being flanked by some bitter hops and a few half-dry, almost acidic tones. Hints of nuts and nougat in the aftertaste, and the taste kinda grows on you. Not the worst Norwegian grocery store beer I’ve had, although I’m by no means claiming it’s even close to "good".

2010 edition. Pours a nice dark brown-red. Inital nose is mainly malty. Aroma is vague, anonymous. A bit malt, perhaps. Taste is - strangely - unpleasantly sour instead of pleasantly sweet as Norwegian christmas beers usually taste. Palate is ok, good mouthfeel, a bit much carbonation for my taste. Meh.
