2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 notalush (3745) - Denver, USA - JUL 1, 2009
Thanks to JoeMcPhee for sharing - hazy golden pour, fizzy lace - honey and light herbs in the nose - not much else happening - light honey, melon, and dried flowers in the flavor - a slightly chalky dryness through the middle - watery and bland, for the most part - meh.
2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 DalzAle (1463) - Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA - NOV 10, 2010
Bottle picked up from the brewery September 2009(see picture at left for my bottle!) Light, clear yellow pour, average carbonation and an aroma of banana and a little syrupy sugar. Flavor is white grapes, malt, way too much sugar and finished tart and a little dry. Don’t remember what I paid for it, but it wasn’t worth it.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 goldtwins (4320) - Nesconset, New York, USA - FEB 27, 2010
Poured a hazed gold color with an off-white head. Fruity malt aroma with notes of oranges. Light yeasty nose. Light but sweet malt flavor. Some yeasty taste. Light bodied.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 microakes (141) - CANADA - OCT 14, 2009
Pours golden with a light white head. Very fizzy, with a creamy texture more likely found in a pumpkin ale. Not really very complex, and certainly not going to make me stop buying Chimay.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 dwyerpg (3577) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - SEP 27, 2009
Hmm...I really liked this. A great spicy nose aroma. A light but spicy and effervescent flavor. Certainly a beer I enjoyed and would buy again. Surprised by the other low ratings. Maybe a new recipe?
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 JoeMcPhee (6966) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 5, 2009
Ugh... pale blonde beer with a sticky white head. Aroma is lightly citrusy with some light apricot and a soft spiciness. A touch of vegetal character as well as fairly solventy flavour. A touch rancid and a lot bad. Meh.
1.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20 CapFlu (3798) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 11, 2008
(Draught) Sampled at the Great Canadian Beer Festival in Victoria, BC, September 8th 2008. Thin, dissipated white foamy head atop a clear, non-carbonated golden body. Nose of Belgian yeast mixed with watery cantaloupe. Very diacetyl – buttery, corn and gross. 4/2/3/1/6
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 lumikuuro (26) - British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 4, 2008
Aroma of apple, some banana. Yellow-gold with partly creamy, partly bubbly white head that soon relinquishes. Flavour is a mixture of Belgian blonde and very good blonde ale, with the emphasis on Belgian. However, this beer lacks the complexity of a true Belgian ale. It is lighter in body and there is little or no hint of spice; but in its favour, it lacks the sweetness that you would expect, so the palatability is much higher than expected, and it is very drinkable. Whilst only being fairly true to the style, this is actually a very nice beer. Some of Granville Island’s seasonal and limited release beers are a little light in body and flavour to the style, and this is a classic example of that. Where they really succeed is with their Oktoberfest beer.
