This jacked up beast of a wheat ale is wildly untamed. Full-bodied, full flavoured and loaded with full-fledged badassery. Deal with it. This beer was hand-crafted at the taproom on Granville Island using a recipe straight from the notebook of our brewmaster. Vern Lambourne

Bottle. The chestnut brown color suffers somewhat by being muddled. But it doesn't look bad, and it's got a decent head. The clean aroma esters are spot on with light banana, cola, and ginger in the aroma. There is no stickiness on the palate; this is a pleasant surprise and keeps it drinkable. The mouthfeel is fluffy and soft. Great flavor development. Dark cocoa character expresses itself especially well, finishing with pleasant bitter chocolate without ever being too sweet. Velvety smooth and balanced. It is hard to make this style of beer well. Impressive! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Somewhat reddish-amber. Aroma shows apple brandy, dried apricots and sultanas. Sweetish up front, then with a dash of alcohol that keeps the sweet, apricotty, figgy body lively. Nice balance...not a suped-up dunkelweizen, not a phenolic bock, this genuinely fits the pocket. Good brew.

Lagerboy (1071) - British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 10, 2014
Bomber. Unclear medium copper, nice lasting creamy cloud of tan head. Yeasty dark wit malt aroma, clove and caramel. Darker roast caramel wheat malt taste, some banana and citrus, dark fruitiness, too much clove. Lively carbonation, medium bodied, moderately hopped. Quite flavorful, a bit boozy, slightly cloying towards the finish. More of a Gnarlygoat and: NFL (Not For Lagerboys)

Rating #891 - January 8, 2014 - On recommendation of Tylor from Granville Island. Ruby amber pour, bubbly white head. Nose is bready malts, yeast, banana, and a mild floral note. Bold and medium bodied for 7.5%, medium alcohol warmth. Medium-heavy carbonation, quite bubbly golden pour with white cap. Mouthfeel is clean, taste is banana, nice yeasty kick, finishes perfect with a hint of spicy hops and alcohol, but not off-putting. Pretty cool beer.

Burnt, plum and new tire inner tube aroma. Huge frothy yellowish head and a deep reddish-brown body. Flavour deep malt, bubblegum and red wine. Somewhat thin through the palate yet the alcohol warms nicely. Good.

Draught at the taproom
Muddy dark amber color with small compact head. As Weizenbock itís perfectly within style; there is the wheat, some spices and light banana esters; the sweetness is moderate and pleasant; the aroma has some dustiness and therefore the flavor is better. Sharp.
Balanced and quite well brewed.

Chestnut brown murky pour. Strong banana wheat nose. Little carbonation, head dissipates quickly leaving a filthy pond of a beer behind.Tastes like somebody added bull max to Robson street hefeweizen. Thatís not fair, itís a decent beer and I like the idea, maybe too much bock, not enough hef? I donít know for sure, but itís a middle of the pack craft beer.

650 ml bottle.Pours a hazy brown with moderate foamy head. Aromas of funky wheat, bananas, and resin. Flavors of alcohol, candied bananas, and light toffee.

A 650 ml bomber from Liquor Barn in North Burnaby. Wow, a ton of frothy tan head on this bugger! The liquid portion is very dark brown, slightly translucent. Flavorwise itís a very pleasant blend of dried fruits and caramel. A distinct impression of banana here. A very decent weizenbock and a very encouraging showing by GI Brewing.

650ml bottle pours a dark ruby color with a finger of off-white head that settles to leave some spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel with some hints of chocolate and banana. Taste is a caramel malty sweetness with a citrusy and spicy hop bitterness finishing with touch of banana. light to medium bodied with some nice carbonation. There are certainly better brews of this style out there.
