COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The English know a thing or two about pale ale. West Coasters know a thing or two about having a good time. Naturally, we kept these facts in mind when we perfected the recipe for English Bay Pale Ale. Tradition is served in the smooth, mild flavour and caramel malt aroma, and that distinctive West Coast character comes through thanks to natural carbonation and careful maturing. The result? A real pale ale with will rise to any occasion.

Cuivrée avec un collet de couleur crème. Un nez léger de malt et de caramel. En bouche, c’est sucré, un peu de malt et de raisin, mais ça reste faible au goût. Une petite amertume à peine perceptible.

Draft - Light grains. Clear copper with a decent beige head. Very grainy, light sweetness and more grains. Not quite what I would expect.

UPDATED: NOV 12, 2014 Pours a filtered bronze. Very thin off-white head.. Mild carbonation. Aromas are very light vanilla, caramel malts, Smooth slightly creamy mouth feel. Tastes of light vanilla, brown sugar, light caramel. This reminds me of a mild version of their Lion’s Winter Ale, which I prefer due to it’s more pronounced aromas and tastes, especially the vanilla which is only hinted at in this one.

It is okay to drink for occasional drinkers like me. But probably it is not the type of Pale Ale for serious advocates, I think.

Like another (probably many) reviewer(s) below, I feel like this stuff used to be better. Pour is light caramel with a big foamy cap that settles immediately to a thin film, but leaves some decent lacing. Nose is caramel, hay, a bit of earth. Taste is sweet up front, with caramel/toffee leading into water and musty hay, leading into a finish that’s barely dry, and with no real hop presence to be found. Tastes like the crappy macro it is now is.

Faint malty and caramel aroma. Clear amber colour. Clean flavour with light caramel notes and quick bitter finish. Medium body with low carbonation. Drinkable but not interesting.

341 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a copper colour with a thin white head. Some caramel, but otherwise pretty dry and light. Refreshing but nothing special.

On tap at The Keg. Clear copper with a thin white head. Flavors are toasted malts, leaves, earth, toffee and cough syrup with fruity and nutty notes. Light body, moderate carbonation, syrupy texture.

Review from on tap. Years since I've had it. Clear dark gold. I'm certain this used to be better. Aroma is wet straw, watery caramel. Taste is sweet, with a faint bitterness. Finish is thin with a faint tingle.

Sample at Atlantic Beer Festival Moncton. Clear golden color, medium white head. Aroma of light caramel. Taste has a bit of malt. Plain.
