3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 pintbypint (1611) - Edmonton, - DEC 15, 2011
650ml brown bottle. Brassy coloured brew, clear. Creamy whitish head with lots of sticky lace. Cascades in the nose, perfumey and candyish sweet notes, some caramel malts. Taste has fairly firm malt up front, hints of biscuit, caramel, toasted malt. Has a light bitter fade. Body is medium and carbonation is average. Nice effort from Granville, this might be the best thing I’ve had from the brewery.

Bottle. Dark amber. Thick head. Nice hop scent penetrates my cold and makes me want to drink. Moderate woody flavor. A bit of toffee. Not as hoppy as aroma. Pleasant.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Vertical Bacon Strips (1699) - Asshat, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 1, 2012
Hey assface, I’m back! Poured out a crystal clear brilliant deeper amber brew with a large off white bubbly cap that sticks to everything like napalm. Princess Leia has absolutely no ass in that white jump suite near the end of Empire... it’s like there is a plank of plywood stuffed in there. Warm sweet malty malts are malty to the nose.. tons of malts in this sucker. LOL! I need Petsecure! You better get it too in case your dog get sick from lapping up an excessive amount of peanut butter off of that ignored wife of yours.... American commercials rule. All of this during a commercial break while watching a Nazi Death Camp show. Thick, rich malts ooze out of my glass, seemingly baked to perfection in this case. Thick biscuit and caramel and some toasty things as well. I’m drinking it quite far from the cellar temperature and I can find zero fruit. My love has quickly waned as my love of all the malts obviously blinded me to the fact that there should be some hops showcased here. The taste is very similar with what seems to be the lightest red licorice after the piles of malts. I do dig this beer especially this hidden flavour that has evolved possibly due to the nearing of room temperature liquid. Light tang and a light spritzy hop bite disappears in the middle only to reappear. I dig this, maybe because I have not drank something like this is a very long time or because, well, I don’t need to explain myself. Smooth and perfect carbonation, light non-fruit fruit in the after taste to go along with those mild yet bold hops. True ESB? Nah. Depth? Not at all. Me just had fun... and now I will eat a bag of dill pickle chips - I’m all about health.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Powertrip (844) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 29, 2011
Single bottle purchased from Willow Park Wine & Spirits on 12/22/2011. Colour: A dark honeyed gold with no head. Nose: Stuffy malt that brings a light milk chocolate essence. The hops are stiffled but findable with a metallic trace. Light sweet, medium-light bitter, medium sour. Lot’s of lemon peel and some swirling soap. Sour stale bread note comes late and lingers long into the finish with a fluttering trace of caramel. This one just did not sit well with me, the hops seem almost out-of-place.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 reebtogi (2191) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 23, 2011
650ml bottle pours pale amber in color with 2 fingers of creamy white head a some nice thin lacing on the glass. Aroma is light citrusy hops and a hint of caramel. Taste is caramel malty sweetness up front with some citrusy hops coming in near the finish and lingering on the taste buds for a while. Light to medium body and light carbonation. This is a decent ESB, but a little malty for my tastes in this style.
