Bottle. Pours a reddish amber colour with a thin white disappearing head. Sweet aroma of vanilla. Tastes of vanilla, some malts, and a bit of earthy hop bitterness. Finishes crisp and bitter. Very interesting flavor.

UPDATED: APR 3, 2012 Used to be a great beer, but has gone downhill in the past few years. Some vanilla/cream notes, but overall a generic beer.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: OCT 25, 2011 On tap; nice golden, auburn color. Taste of strong vanilla notes followed by caramel and subtle milk chocolate, very easy drinking. I found the beer to be good as a one off, but probably would not drink multiple pints at a time as it is quite sweet.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft. Pours a great brown with tan head. Aromas are great, lots of sweet malts. The vanilla on the finish is very strong, but not cloyingly sweet. Really great, could put away quite a few of these.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A robust beer that isn’t overly spiced so you can drink multiple pints at one sitting.
Aroma is very nice, although somewhat muted for a spiced beer. Pours beautifully, looks great.
Tastes great, a little sweet, finishes with a candy like after taste that is very nice.
Will buy again!

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Reviewed as a Winter Warmer:
Nice dark amber with ruby highlights, the first thing I think of is vanilla then spices. This can be a very tasty and flavorful holiday ale with a smooth caramel and chocolate spiced aroma followed by a large hit of diacetyl that adds to the buttery-vanilla finish. I’m not sure if a taste flaw is what the brewer intended, but either way it is a very sweet-finishing and easy drinking beer. The finish is a bit, flat, could use more body, and a bit lacking in that it could use a bump up in ABV%. We did agree however after the last sip that the overly-spiced finish (vanilla mainly) was cloying and concluded that it was nice to try once, but would not drink multiple pints.
