Smell of this beer is out of this world. As soon as you pour the beer you can smell chocolate, like the dark chocolate yo would use for cooking. Taste is not a let down either. It is smooth and just right balance of sweetness. Medium thick texture lends itself to easiness of drinking of this beer. Appearance however is a let down. Its flat, almost no foam at all. Color is just dark brown. Overall really unique beer.

Can from LCBO. Light to medium amber transparent body with an off white beige head. Notes of cocoa, milk chocolate, very sweet aromas, cranberry. Soft carbonation and low percieved bitterness. Very sessionable.

UPDATED: NOV 27, 2014 Can to Sam Adams fancy new glass, beer pours a transparent dark ruby with an off white head. Looks great. Aroma is sweet and carries notes of vanilla, chocolate, fudge, cinnamon and other stuff. Honestly smells like a bakery that specializes in sweets. However it’s quite intense and "feels" a bit fake. Taste is much of the same as the aroma except for the bitterness added by the hops. I wouldn’t call this sweet, instead it’s balanced against the bitterness. Judging from the cocoa sweetness, I think this beer might have lactose in it....it’s quite chocolatey/cocoa/vanilla flavoured. Finishes with a cigarette ash flavour though which is unfortunate. Palate...well....drinkable, but this is too thin. Pretty well balanced and the carb is good but it needs more body to back the flavour. Irritating. Overall, this is OK. Drink it once and forget about it.

Draft. Deep amber pour with a couple of fingers of frothy off-white head. Aroma is caramel, vanilla, some chocolate. Similar flavour with more emphasis on the vanilla and chocolate. Definitely my favorite offering from Granville.

Bottle. I was quite surprised by this Granville offering, because it was so good. It had an aroma of vanilla and caramel. Tastes of vanilla, chocolate, coffee, and caramel. Had a nice full body with a slick feel. The aftertaste is a warming boozy vanilla, but in the best way. I would warm up with a six pack of these again.

Hazy brown pour with a very fizzy noisy head that didn’t last. Interesting scent I can’t quite place. Hoppy and something else, something mellow. Really dig the mouth on this one. Malty and mellow. There’s a strong aftertaste. Still haven’t... I’ve got it! Vanilla. That’s what it is. Reminds me of an Ale version of Mill Street Vanilla Porter. Rather like this. Very easy to drink and a good reward at the end of a long day.

Pours dark copper colour with small off-white head. Aroma is chocolate, as is the initial taste. Taste then goes to a slightly sour bitterness and back to chocolate. Palate is a bit thin.

Sample kindly poured by the staff at Saracoa, cheers to them. Poured a medium to deep clear amber. Nose was quite chocolatey. Flavor was caramel malt followed by a chocolate finish. Quite shocking in that the chocolate was so clear, yet there wasn’t any of the traditional roasted notes that you would typically find. Slightly sweet. Would have made for an interesting desert beer. Not bad at all. Probably good that it was just a heavy sample, as a full glass may have been a bit much.
