341 mL bottle poured an amber color with big off-white head and some fine lacing. Aromas of vanilla and some other spices. Taste is moderately sweet with some vanilla and possibly nutmeg. This is not too bad as a winter seasonal beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Jagooar (18) - British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 10, 2011
It’s always nice to see this winter ale back on the shelves in the fall. Very sweet, rich flavour. Caramel, vanilla tones. Rich, smooth texture. At the end of the day, I wouldn’t want more than a few a year. Just too sweet. But it is nice to pick a few up each year and have a treat. But for an everyday beer, no thank you.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Malakin (466) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 1, 2011
Sugary sweet with a strong artificial taste of vanilla. I was given a six pack of this beer and will pass on the remaining five bottles to someone else.
2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Crel (37) - Regina, Saskatchewan, CANADA - DEC 24, 2010
Amber color with a thin rapidly dissipating head. Very little carbonation. The aroma is very bread like to the exclusion of pretty much everything else. It tastes nothing like it smells however. Very sweet and malty. Vanilla and brown sugar are the most dominant flavors. The taste brings to mind that of instant oatmeal. Mouthfeel is quite thin. Not what I would think of when I imagine a winter ale. Glad I tried it, but not one I will go back to.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Nena (963) - Seattle, Washington, USA - DEC 12, 2010
Draft at GI taproom. Pour a clear, light mahogany with an off-white head. Doughy, spicey vanilla aroma with a hint of burnt sugar. Flavor of doughy, bready malts, vanilla, spice, crème brûlée-ish cream and burnt sugar hints. Slightly viscous, moderate body. Overall experience is not unlike a fresh baked cinnamon roll. Very nice and holiday appropriate. I like this way more than I would have expected to.
