Sample at the Spring Forward tasting at Brew’s Cafe on 3/9/13. Clear gold to amber pour with a medium white head. Aroma of malt, corn and stone fruit. Malty and creamy sweet flavor with some herbs and pepper before a sweet, herbal finish.

22 ounce bottle, Batch #6. Served in a Unibroue tulip, the beer pours a hazy golden/orange color with about an inch and a half off-white head that stays around for a long time. There’s also a good amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like coriander, oranges and orange peel, bready/grainy malt, and peppery spice. The taste is similar to the aroma. The peppery spice is the strongest flavor at first, and there’s also coriander, orange peel, bready/grainy malt and yeast noticeable. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s a bit slick and is well carbonated. I think this is a good overall brew. Good thing I bought some of Granville’s other brews, so I’ll have to try them soon too! $9.99 a bottle.

Bomber poured into ommegang tulip, pours a dark golden color with a two finger eggshell head that slowly fades. Aroma is farmhouse yeast, pepper, very spicy aroma with clove, some fruity esters, not getting the grapefruit they described . Taste is spicy as well with lots of pepper, has a dey bitter finish with some funky notes. Good saison, would like to try this brewers other two brews.
