Clear golden amber color, small white head. Grassy-woody and metallic aroma with some wet cardboard. Flavor is quite similar: grass, herbs, wood and metal with buttery touch. Late grassy-herbal bitterness. Very South German, but not one of my favourites.

Copper brown color, cloudy white head. Light bready, grassy hoppy nose. Rye bread, toasted brown sugar and subdued hops. Light alcohol and caramel in the aftertaste.

Bottle, 5%. Malty aroma, a little papery. Clear amber colour, unstable white head. The flavour is dusty and malty, not bad. Bready and dusty aftertaste with a light sweetness. Well-balanced.

UPDATED: SEP 3, 2009 From the gravity barrel. Thick head. Fresh, fruity hops with a bready malt balance on the nose. Creamy body. Somewhat accented towards pale, slighlty mushroomy malts but also with fresh, fruity hops. Sweetish in the finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JUL 23, 2010 Draft @ Pelikan in Bamberg. Amber-copper with nice white head. Has a brassy, sweetish aroma of coppery malts. A sweetish finish that could be offensive but manages to finish dry.
Uprated after having draft at Sandkerwa. Warm golden color with decent head retention. Mild, nutty, earthy aroma with hint of smoke. Nice smooth palate. Cask mouthfeel. The flavors are nice with lots of rich caramel and chocolate without attendant sweetness. Dry, nutty finish. Smooth, good, and easy. 4-7-4-7-15

Huge off-white head over clear pale copper-amber beer. Fresh malts, bit grassy, some arachide (fatty acids), sunflower oil. Again arachide in the taste, very obvious. Malts, bit of caramel, slight grassy and herbal. Light body, bit creamy texture. Not quite as expected. No doubt infinitely better fresh on draught. All the same, big thanks to DonS!

Draught Clear-amber; small but consistent yellowish head. Shy cookie-malts nose, (sweet) malts is all I get. Sweet cookie malts taste, retronasal some shy hops come peeping through. Light but not watery, gives a light "chew" in the background, making it allright on the palate. Maybe a reasonable Kellerbier, but slightly boring. There is MUCH better.

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thin orange head. The aroma is sweet with light notes of dust, hops, and fruit. The flavor is sweet mlaty with notes of fruit and cardboard, leading to a dry bitter end. I find it boring.
