COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Grasshop-ah is an ode to the botanical neighbors and flavors of our favorite grasses and flowers. We’ve married our cider with hops (flowers) and Lemon Grass (uh,.. grass) Apples grow in areas that are also conducive to hop cultivation and Lemon Grass seems to grow anywhere. While this may be heretical to Cider purists we know plenty of folks who love the aroma of hops and think the background of cider makes perfect sense. The lemongrass thing is a nice fusion of citrus that seems to work. At least we think so. We hop you like it too.

Bottle. Head is initially tiny, fizzy, white, fully diminishing. Body is medium to dark yellow. Aroma is notes of Thai green curry paste (uncooked), patchouli, lemon juice, apple skin. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately to heavily acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately to heavily acidic, lightly bitter, unclean. Medium body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Wow. Seriously. Raw Thai green curry paste, it’s uncanny...not just the lemongrass, but the shallots and garlic and shrimp paste as well, this is some nasty, nasty stuff. Don’t get me wrong, I love Thai cooking, esp. green curry. But this is a cider. Or a cider-beer. That smells more like a patchouli-curry cologne. Or something. Highly unpleasant. Sourness in this is like fruit juice that’s gone off, a biting, puckering, acrid affair. Dirty aftertaste on top of that. Need I go on?

On tap at Ale House @ Amatos. Transparent gold, no head. Lovely grassy herbal hop aroma, with a little bit of boozy apple and some lemon citrus. Taste is tart with apple tones and a little bit of delicious grassy/floral hops, some straw, some lemongrass. Finishes tart and dry. Awesome cider. So far, looks like I’m the only one who thinks so..

500 ml bottle poured a clear gold with a lingering ring of white foam. Aromas of apple, straw, citrus and light earthiness. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of sour apple, lemon zest, grassiness and light mint with a crisp dry bitter lingering citrus finish.
