Thanks to westmeister for sharing this one. Light, tart, and a little bit of lime. Funky earthy finish. Hay and grass in the aroma. Pretty subtle, pretty smooth.

The brett appears to have taken this one over and the results remain sublime. If you’ve got any Batch 1 bottles sitting in the cellar do not waste any more time opening one. I hope that I get a chance to try a few more Grassroots beers in the future without such a long delay before the next one.

Aroma / Appearance - A warm chestnut base sits idly below vanilla cream head. Hibiscus, orange peels, and a dry tartness mix into the scent of an earthy jungle just after a heavy rain. The funk, while not overpowering, definitely has become assertive.

Flavor / Palate - A fluid mouthfeel explodes with hibiscus, orange, and the aftertaste of a balanced mimosa. Hay and dirt round out a beer that is part saison and part American funk. While still fantastic some signs suggest the experience won’t be getting any better. Drink this now if you’ve still got one with more than three years on it.

Small pour from Dave. Interesting take on a saison. Lime juice adds lgiht acid, hibiscus not too forward.

From my backlogg: RBESG 2014 in London, grand tasting. Hazy pale amber beer with a small almost pinkish head. Sourish floral tart aroma. Sourish raspberry rhubarb grassy floral flavour. Nice one :-)
