24-JUL-2011, bottle @home, from "Superbest".
Black with the darkest brown head. Huge, huge fluffy head that coats the glass.
Sweet licorice nose at first. More as it warms.
Taste is very sweet with licorice, coffee, and some berry stuff.
As it warms sour cherries, brett and a tad of tartness show up.
Very powerfull taste. Oak’y, almost barrel aged. A bourbon note?
Ends dry and very bitter - hoppy bitter.
High carbonation and very creamy. Lovely rough and complex beer.
Really a gypsy. Taste is in all directions...
...but I love them all:)
Fantastic taste!

Bottle:
Wow, a pitch black beer with a really big and vast brown head.
Already looks really good!
Smell is actually pretty fresh, hoppy, Light citrus, roasted malts and roasted barleys, light liquorice.
Funny thing: from the bottle it smelled like liquod liquorice, from the glass pretty hoppy.
Taste deep roasted to burned malts and barleys, coffee, bitter, crisp, deep and going the path of complexity.
Deep roasted light herby aftertaste.
Medium to fuller carbo, tingly spicy mouthfeel, full body and light creamy foamy mouthfeel.
This one is delicious!
4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 maneliquor (1552) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - MAY 6, 2013
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours black with a thick, huge & billowing, dark tan head. Very carbonated. Nose shows light hay and that typical saison yeast note - almost champagne like. Light funk comes through as well as cocoa powder and cacao nibs. Some citric hops in there too. Taste is superbly balanced compared to what I was expecting. Loads of layers which all work well. The yeast is showcased sensationally and slowly turns into roasted malts and milk chocolate. Light sweetness with heavy and lengthy bitterness shines. Light funk throughout - works very well but it is very subtle. Fantastic beer

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Christian (9697) - Odense, DENMARK - JUL 20, 2011
Black with a lasting light brown head. Grassy hop aroma with a complex background showing chocolate, sweet cherries, mint, herbs - dark malt, hops and brett coming together - along with a bit of alcohol. Sweetish flavour balanced by aggressive amounts of hops, a bit of hard roasted malt and some alcohol. Long lasting aftertaste of coffee, dark chocolate and brett funk. Only a sipping beer, but a very good sipping beer!

Bottle @ Fanø Bryghus.
Pours completely black with a small, creamy, dark-beige head. Aroma is roasted, chocolate, light sweet lactose. And lovely hops with pineapple, apricot, light oranges. Medium carbonation, lovely dry mouthfeel. Good creaminess. Flavour starts sweet and malty, roasted, liqourice and lots of hops with apricot, peach and red apples and a delicious chocolate finish. Really lovely.

What an odd, wonderful beer. Gusher like I have never seen - didn’t lose too much though. Just kept going. Beautiful head once it settled. Nose is big pine hops, a bit of refined funk and dark chocolate malt. Mouthfeel is smooth and luscious. Not particularly funky, but like a big stout with some big hops (though not in Black IPA territory) and some light farmhouse flavour to finish. All in all a great little beer.
