Bottled. A black beer with no head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, soy sauce, wood, caramel, and some whiskey. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of roasted malt, wood, whiskey, and some vanilla, leading to a dry roasted finish.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of FrumptyDumpty. Pours pitch black with a tiny, rough off-white head. Roasty, ashy nose. Medium body, carbonation is low, very hard roastiness, some vanilla while the JD notes only add a slight edge. Very malt astringent finish. I think I actually prefer the original. 270411

Bottle. It pours an oily, dark brown body and a small, tan head. Quite a lot of vanilla on the nose, with dark chocolate, roasted malts and bourbon. A bit one dimensional maybe, but really pleasant, even though I don’t care too much about of JD. There’s some sweetness in the flavor, but it feels quite dry on the palate. Lightly warming, full-bodied and soft on the carbonation. Coffee, dark chocolate and some vanilla in the flavor, finishing with a pleasant hoppy bitterness in addition to the roasted flavors found initially. Pleasant indeed. Starts a bit boring, but after a sip or two I really enjoy it. 120915
