2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
8/12/10. 12oz bottle courtesy cbfobes! The pour is brownish at first, but rather clear and red when held to the light. It has a decent light tan head that holds pretty well. The aroma has a hint of chocolate, but a huge amount of soapy caramels, and a big dose of bloody copper pennies... blech. The flavor is light chocolate, but mostly huge metal again, super light for the style, with a lingering hint of sweet caramel. They missed the mark here, I’m afraid.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
On draft in Janesville, nearly no head on the beer and looks more like a pint of pop than beer, hardly any aroma to it and has slight smoke and chocolate flavor with minimal to no lacing, it has a very odd light mouth feel, meh, you can find much better porters in Janesville than this!

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20
Pours a deep brown color (striking burgundy when held up to the light) The head is rich and thick but seems to have a generally poor attitude about sticking around, at about a half a finger the receding seems to have slowed to a stop so there you go in the end it;s got a tight medium head. All right, what am I smelling here? Doesn’t seem too porter-like but there is certainly some saw dust, some cooked vegetables, some mustiness, and some chocolate. Once you get the whiff of the chocolate it’s easier to put the other things in the back ground but they never really fully go away.
The flavor is better than the aroma, but it’s very muted... which I suppose is better than being off or weird. There is a mild tartness, some smoky coffee, some earthy & woody tones. But really everything is pretty subdued.
Palate is flabby and watery, not a lot to sink your teeth into.
What we have here is a serious highlander case, I’m sorry Gray’s but there can only be one Bully Porter.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at the Tied House. Dark brown, red highlights, moderate tan head that leaves a good lacing. Aroma smoky, a bit ashen. Flavor similar, focusing on the roasted malt, smoked meat is the most apt flavor comparison. Chocolate malt, tart cherry flavors are definitely there but lurking behind the roast. Medium bodied, light carbonation.

2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
This is not a big porter. However it was very drinkable. This would be a very good stepping stone for someone looking to learn about beer. light body, chocolate, black, light sweetness,

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at the Tied House. Deep brown-black with stained-glass red edges. Minimal oily head. Medium bodied sandy chocolate malt. Roasty, with a mild touch of amber malt underneath. Semi-thin, not a thick milkshake porter by any means.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
12oz bottle. Pours a brownish red with a small tan head that dissipates quickly. Does’t pour like much of a porter. Aroma is of chocolate, grass, malt, lactose, and coffee. Aroma isn’ t all that impressive. Taste is of grass, light chocolate, dairy creamer, and the slightest bit of coffee. Has a malt backbone that it buried in the brew. Mouthfeel is heavily carbonated and very watery. Lingering taste of grass. The flavors are very weak, the body is thin, and it drinks like carbonated water. What a waste.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
12oz bottle 7/20/09 (Siciliano’s Market-Grand Rapids)-Pours a dark amber with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, slight chocolate, and sweetness. Taste of the same with a bit of hops and slight tartness. This light to medium bodied beer is not bad but does not fit a Porter in any way shape or form.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours dark copper and reddish with a tan head. Quite light for a porter. The aroma has nice dark rich malt, milk chocolate, vanilla and cream. The aroma did not get reflected in the taste though. Medium body that’s quite light with prickly sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with very thin cocoa, some green apple tartness and phenolic spice. The finish has spice and really doesn’t seem true-to-style at all.
