COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Grays IPA an assertive hop flavor that balances itself very nicely with a malty background. A very fine example of what an IPA was meant to be. Hop lovers come one come all for this one !

Copper color, creamy head, nice lacing. The aroma is very toasty with balanced hops; like bread! The flavor is medicinal & tangy, light bitterness & buttery malts. Finishes balanced, kinda boring actually.

Mahogany with no head and spotty lacing. Floral and piney hops in the nose. Some caramel and roast come out. A soapiness quality arises. Musky almost. Flavor has the soapiness about it as well. Bitter hops along with the piney ones too. Some metallic notes. Malts of caramel and roast.

Somewhat dark clear red-orange body. Medium sized off-white frothy head that leaves a soapy lacing. Pleasant dry grapefruit and orange aroma with hints of sweetness. Taste is more of a fruity hoppiness with a weird sour grassy finish.

Clear amber body, thin white head. Wheat bread and oranges in the aroma. More wheat bread in the flavor along with toffee, and sweet orange rind. Dry, bitter finish featuring grassy, grapefruity hops. A decent assertively-hopped IPA, perhaps a bit too dry for my tastes.

For a less expensive IPA, this beer is not bad. To quote Homer - "Ah Beer, is there anything you can’t do?"

howie (549) - DeForest, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 2, 2004
UPDATED: OCT 12, 2004 Deep copper, coarse head. Malty, toffee aromas under floral British-style hops. Full malty flavors with some tea-like bitterness and a little hop flavor to dry the finish. Not bad.

Dark amber color with off-white head. Floral, citrus, and pine (mostly) aromas all in this one, but not extremely strong. Somewhat malty, lots of pine, with a nice dose of hop bitterness. Enjoyable.

MaxPower (961) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - JUL 20, 2002
UPDATED: NOV 4, 2004 Hazy copper color with a large frothy off white head that leaves some lacing in my glass, citrus and piney hop aroma. Balanced fruity and caramel flavors with a decent hop bite, medium body with a creamy and soft mouthfeel, finishes with a mild bitterness, more of an English style IPA.
