3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Thanks to buckybeer for this one. Pours onyx with 1-finger tan head. Aroma of roasty dark malt, chocoff, and molasses. Tastes chocoffy, with a molasses, almond, and roasty malt finish. This one is good.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JAN 1, 2014 BOTTLE: nearly black pour, noticeable carbonation on the pour. Aroma is roasty, taste is roasty without a lot of other elements, noticable carbonation, and the body is a little thin. Wouldn’t describe as a creamy texture. Good beer, but not a great sweet stout.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pitch black with a light tan head. Smells incredibly strong and rich... thick french roast coffee and licorice, and a small amount of hickory smoke flavor. Feels thick and oily, sludge basically... really impressing me. The oatmeal flavor is mild, not artificial and not transparent. It really tastes like it belongs in this stout. Syrupy and sweet finish rounds out a great sweet stout.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Poured a very deep mahogany, almost black with a quickly-receding beige head. Big, sweet aroma of chocolate, lactic notes, and coffee. Flavor picked up pretty much the same stuff, but with a lower intensity... Rather light on the palate, with a bitter roasted coffee finish. Smooth and easy drinkin’, but wish it had a little more body.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This might be the darkest beer I have ever seen. There is almost no red edges to the glass. There is almost no head at all. Aroma is of sweet malt. Flavor is also malty with coffee being evident as well as some roastiness. Most stouts have a nice zing to them but this one does not. It is actually quite smooth. It was also surprisingly refreshing and clean.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep brown hue with ruby highlights which porduced a good creamy head and very good lace. The aroma has notes of caramel and chocolate malts, hazelhut, grains and oats, floral hops, and a touch of coffee. The taste starts bittersweet with malty and lactic character. Undertones of mocha, vanilla, and lightly nutty. The finish is bitter with coffee tones. The mouthfeel is smooth and lively, a touch thin. Good and quaffable stout. Should have bought another bottle.
