COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rich in color with a strong body and a very creamy texture, the Oatmeal Stout is a true beer lover's brew. The slight hop aroma distinguishes this stout from any other. The Oatmeal Stout is robust, full of body and flavor, and topped off with a creamy light brown head.

12 oz. bottle. Poured a deep molasses, very opaque. Couldn’t even see through it in a glass-bottom mug! Slight tan head, doesn’t dissipate. Aroma is slightly nutty, malty. Molasses flavor hits in the middle, wow. Sweeter than I expected, not unpleasant. Not too thick on the palate either, looks thicker than it feels. All in all a great beer I could see myself coming back to.

This beer pours a very dark brown body with a small, tan head that dissipates fairly quickly. Aromas of dark chocolate dominate, with some coffee, oatmeal, and damp earth in the background. On the palate, it’s fairly light and easy, with oatmeal and chocolate flavors being tempered by a gentle, but noticeable sourdough-like tartness. It’s medium in weight, medium-light in carbonation, fairly dry, and gently acidic. Overall, it’s okay, but I’d prefer a bit more richness and intensity without the light tartness.

12oz bottle Old Notes-Pours dark brown with a decent head. Aroma of roasted malt, sweetness, coffee, and chocolate. Taste of the same but pretty mild. This light to medium bodied brew was a pretty basic stout but a bit mild.

bottle - Pours near black with a one finger tan head. It has an aroma of dark roast malt and chocolate. The flavor includes some good roast chocolate malt. I thought this beer was a little on the thin side for a stout and could use more body, but it tastes good and is easy to drink.

Bottle - Nice dark brown color with a tan head. Very fizzy. Had a nice malty chocolate coffee taste and aroma but it was a little on the thin side and had an ashy aftertaste. Maybe a just got a bad one.

Deep dark brown body with a large thick brown head. Aroma of super pungent roasted malt, caramel and a lot of nuts. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong roasty flavour with oats, caramel and even a bit of anise noticeable. Aftertaste shows a good and rather simple flavour of roasted oats, some light peat, a bit of nuts and a good caramel sweetness. Overall, a nice beer - not amazing, but a good sweet stout that would be nice to sample, even if you don’t care for the style! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Three Cellars in Franklin, Wisconsin on 05-September-2012 for US$2.09 sampled on the train to New York (from Upstate) on 09-December-2012.

Pours dark brown with fizzy head that is very short lived, leaving nearly no trace and no lacing. After 60 seconds it looked like soda. The aroma is really good - chocolate and roasted coffee. Taste is pretty mild and plain for the style. Just light amounts of roasted coffee, with not much complexity or aftertaste. Not terrible, but nothing noteworthy here.

A dry beer, with chocolate undertones, a bit of fizz and somewhat tart aftertaste. It does pour and look good, but was lighter tasting than I expected. Not much of an aroma either. It makes for a cheap and decent oatmeal stout (under $9 for a 6-pk), but I don’t think Samuel Smith has much to worry about.

Fruity, weak in body. Caramel flavors, not too strong. I haven’t been having luck with this style lately.

From a bottle pours interestingly appealing, makes my mouth water. No sediment and it smells rather roasty fresh. Nice sizzly initial impressions, not over the top in flavor. Seems much more like 4% than 6. Some fun tartness, in a wild way, inthere. Leaves a good impression on the plalate after each slug. No rude ness on the finish. And its cheap too; pretty close to being a really good beer! Liked this one; rather mild and well behaved cheap dark beer. Good one grays ;~) Good example of a drinkable dark beer.

Bottle: Pour is dark brown to black. Aroma is roast, oats, and a hint of coffee. Taste is almost sweet but not quite. Not bad but I expected a bit sweeter, smoother, and more complexity.
