Syd (734), Twin Cities Metro, Minnesota, USA Dec 27, 2003 Had this on draught at the Great Wolf Lodge in the Wisconsin Dells. The beer was labeled as the Great Wolf Lodge Lager. This actually acted like a Bock rather than a standard Lager. The aroma was nothing but malt. The appearance was amber brown. The flavor was malty with some lingering fruit tones. The palate was pretty rich. Overall, this is OK, and really gets into your head after two 24 oz glasses. JPDIPSO (4266), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Aug 30, 2002 Rudy amber color with a light tan head that disappears quickly. Dark caramel aroma. Malty flavors that dominate. There is a touch of astringency that distracts form the malt and goes to the finish. Coffee/caffine bitterness in the finish. muzzlehatch (4424), Burlington, Vermont, USA Aug 16, 2002 Big, thick, heavy head that dies fairly quickly; rather bubbly orange/red color. Malty, caramel, slightly grapy aroma. Nice rich malty flavor, almost a Vienna-style if you ask me. Nothing outstanding, but well-balanced with just a hint of hops to kill excessive sweetness. GoPackJo99 (16), Oregon, Wisconsin, USA Sep 9, 2001 Good aroma with well malted barley and a hint of caramel(?). Dark golden-brown appearence with a bit of cloudiness. Good red lager flavor, well balanced and rich. A bit of a bitter aftertaste, but not out of line. Nice beer for Gray’s first attempt into a red.
