JPDIPSO (4286), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Jan 19, 2004 Dark brown with hints of orange on the edges. Fluffy/wispy light tan head. Aromas of sweet grains and light brown sugar. Very grainy in flavor. Much like chewing on the grain/malt itself. Very dry finish with little linger. This seems thinner than I remember, although it has been a few years since I've had this one. Certainly drinkable, just not much to embrace. DocLock (4170), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 25, 2005 Thanks to Jewedekind for this. Jeez, in 11 months on ratebeer I’ve never had a "make it or break it" 10th rating. Now I’ve had 3 in the last 3 days! This one pours deep ruby with medium off-white head. Aroma of malt, chocoff, cabernet, slight spice. Tastes roasty malty, with some chocoff, spices, and nuts. Standard mouthfeel (reminds me a little of Ravell), with more chocolate and spices as it warms. BBB63 (3810), La Porte, Indiana, USA Aug 30, 2004 Bottle: Pours a reddish brown with a small tan head and some lace. The aroma has notes of caramel and toasted malts, aromatic and grassy hops, coffee, and soem berry esters. The taste starts bland with just your basic malt sweetness before a dose of coffe and hop bitterness shows. Remains the same throughout the glass. The feel is watery and fizzy. An average to below average porter, not much going on here. Maybe too old? Suttree (2355), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Apr 24, 2005 Dark brown, small head. traditional porter smells and flavors - chocolate and coffee, plus a mildly spicy finish. Not bad. Thanks to Jewedekind for the trade! YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA Jan 23, 2004 My contribution to the club's winter brew tasting. Bad choice. Well, it didn't suck but just wasn't anything remarkable. Dark brown with copper tinges, and a tan head. Coffee in the nose and the taste. Might try again sometime in the future.
