4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Leftyphive (3) - Nevada, USA - NOV 29, 2012 does not count
Good local Nevada beer. Picked up a six pack from total wine. Love the taste, and the ode to the state fossil.

Draught at Freakin’ Frog, Las Vegas Amber color, creamy head, nice lace. The aroma is quite nice, caramel and resiny hops, some bitter oranges. Correct body strength, with caramel flavor, moderate sweetness, a bit fruity, not too resiny nor aggressive, correct bitterness; strangely there is a light ashy touch in the end.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 penstemon (58) - - NOV 14, 2012
Pours amber with a white head. Aromas of lemon, apricot, rose, and light caramel. Taste is more apricot, light citrus, grain, floral, grassy. Drying and resinous finish. Fairly light-bodied. Some interesting components, but could be more assertive. Ultimately a little thin and finishes weak.

Well balanced IPA, amber, citrus, malty, great hops aroma and flavor, and of course a little bit icky.

Draft at Pour 24 in New York, New York (Las Vegas, NV). A Nevada tick! Pours a mellow amber orange hue, good glow, small haze, bigger cakey tannish head stays as a firm layer and laces ok. Aromas are mellow citrus, oranges and gentle lemon. Doughy malts, bread, and gentle kiss of toffee. Touch of resin, florals, grass. Mellow to medium hops. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied, touches of mellow hop flourish, some lemon and florals, gentle grass. Bit of orange, mellow kiss of grapefruit. Some bready and biscuits malts sweeten up the game a bit, some dry earthy hops linger in a sufficient layer, a touch sweet into the backend, moving back to sufficientky dry hopped finish with grass and florals, kiss of pine. Touch of stickiness, mellow dryness lingers. A bit sticky and a touch caramel driven at times. Sufficient, average IPA that gives some flashes at times, falls back to a touch sweeter IPA at others. Ok. A much better option than an Amber, but still lacking a rich dry in your face bomb likeness.

Bottle at the condo in Tahoe, from a wine glass. Pours deep gold, 1-finger thick, somewhat foamy white head, quite persistent; Nice lacing. Nose is very spicy - heavy on the pine and spruce, light caramel, light citrus. Not the "juicy" IPA style I normally love so dearly, but the pine and caramel is rather balanced and pleasant. Flavours of light spruce, caramel, salt, pretty simple honestly... Meh...

Since I arrived in Reno I heard quite a few good things about this beer. so I had to try it. Comes out of the tap a beautiful, bubbly golden honey-amber with a fairly thick and fine-bubbled pale honey-gold head that persists and leaves generous lacing. Hoppy aroma borders on evergreen and has hints of malt and grapefruit. Strongly hoppy flavor is somewhat bitter and has subtle malty and sour citrus notes, mixing grapefruit with a little lemon. Firm-bodied texture is loaded with fizz, leaving a tingly and hoppy finish. Dig it up!
