Dark brown, crimson edges & a firm dense tan head. Nose of light cocoa & nutty chocolate, very light roast & smoke. The flavor is excellently balanced with a light dry smokiness followed by the creamy sweet malts then rounded off with the sublte noble hops. The finish is creamy, a bit sharp. Excellent classic porter.

On tap at Rubicon for cask night! (From notes) Aroma was nonexistent. light tan head, reddish hue. Flavour is harsh of roasted barley. Palate is very thin and watery. FLavour is lacking, kind of boring the way you might expect a english porter to be. Blah.

Cask at Rubicon for Sacramento Beer Week. Pours dark brown with a creamy beige head. Light malty aroma. Med body. Flavor is sort of Irish in my mind - whatever that means. I could believe this is some variation of Guinness. Smooth, mellow, nicely resiny bitter.

on nitro-pours a tan head and black with red color. Aroma is dark malt-roasty/chocolate. Taste is dark malt-roasty/chocolate, secondary earthy hops bite.

On tap. Body is dark brown/black in color, clear with dark garnet edges and a beige 1/2" creamy head. Aroma starts out with some powdered chocolate/bakers chocolate aroma, light coffee vanilla and a bit earthy. Flavor echos the aroma with notes of chocolate, light coffee, earthy and vanilla. Very nice.

Draft @ Great Basin. Pours a reasonably dark, cola-brown color; thin light-tan head with patchy lacing. Very light roasted malts and cardboard in the aroma; quite bland. Medium mouthfeel: chewy roasted malts, roasted coffee and chocolate, with some nougat and caramel-laden viscosity; filled-out, basic porter with an emphasis on chocolate and nougat; very drinkable. Medium finish: roasted malts and chocolate, predominantly; a bit of inkiness and bitterness.

On-Tap at the Brewery Sparks NV, Pours out a dark brown topped with a tan head. Aroma of roast and light hops. Tast of a nice smoke and plenty dark roast.

A dark brown clear porter with reddish hues, and a thin moka head. A nice light chocomalt aroma with light hopping. In mouth, a nice chocolate malt with bitter burned toasts. Medium bodied. A nice porter. On tap at brewpub, August 2007.

Black body with an off white head. The were some nice ruby highlights. The aroma was chocolate with some roasted coffee. The taste was light coffee with some soybeans and dark chocolate. Decent.

Tap @ brewpub: Dark brown with reddish tints. Earthy, peaty feel and taste with a little cola. Pleasant smoky and light charcoal aroma. Not bad.
