Malty and with a metallic type undertone. Alcohol can definitely be felt, but not so bad that it turned you off. Decent barley wine, but would prefer Sierra Nevada Bigfoot.

A nice barleywine. A deep copper with soft creamy white head. Caramel, biscuits, grain, toffee, dark fruit, raisin, and a hint of vanilla. Medium to thick mouth feel. Sweet but not cloying Not bad at all, but certainly not the best.

On tap @ Great Basin poured a clear dark copper with a lasting amber head. Aromas of carmel, toffee, toasted malt, biscuits, pepper and a hint of tobacco. Palate was medium to full bodied and warming. Flavors of carmel, toffee, dark fruit, biscuit, light vanilla and hints of licorice and tobacco with a smooth warming lingering bittersweet finish.

When the brewmaster saw me madly scribbling notes about his beer, he brought out a bottle of this to share with me. This beer was a medium amber in color with an off white head.It had a good malty profile throughout with a mellow alcohol heat that didn’t overpower the flavor.
