20-Jan-08 (Draft: Great Bear Brewing Co. in Wasilla, AK) An aroma of soured fruits provides a poor first impression, but an accurate one. Soured fruits are also evident in the flavor, along with sweet grains and some corn. Almost no hop flavor or bitterness. Light-medium in body with light carbonation. Light-golden color, somewhat hazy, and the small, white head quickly fades away to a thin ring. Though on tap at the brewery, the perception of soured fruits obviously make me question the freshness of this beer. It is wintertime in Alaska after all, and dark beers rule up here, and this beer is targeted for people just getting started with craft beer.

On tap at the Great Bear. Nice aroma of grains. Golden with a small white head. Good consistent smooth flavor with hardly a hop taste. Crisp refreshing mouth feel. Overall a good solid beer, one of the few consistent beers from this brewery.

Had on tap at the brewpub in Wasilla, Ak. Light gold in appearance, thin white head. Aroma, nondescrpt, a bit of fresh lake water perhaps. Flavor has a bit of honey sweetness to it with a touch of mown grass. Decent mouthfeel. Refreshing, but not all that flavorful. Brewed for the masses.
